Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Enweave! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Foe! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Enweave gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Foe wants to control from the top but Enweave keeps moving. Foe drops back looking for a leg! Enweave is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Enweave manages to kick Foe off! Foe jumps back into Enweave's guard. Enweave looking to hit a scissor sweep but Foe is one step ahead there. Foe is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Foe showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Enweave is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Foe drops back looking for a leg! Enweave is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Enweave manages to kick Foe off! Foe jumps back into Enweave's guard. Foe should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's one minute gone in the round. Foe trying to control the position from guard on top but Enweave is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Foe misses with a series of wild punches.
Enweave gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Foe counters with a single leg into guard. Enweave didn't expect that. Enweave is breathing heavily. Enweave trying to control the position.
Foe postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Enweave is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Foe, into his guard. Foe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Enweave doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Foe is tightening it up a little... Enweave has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Enweave reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Enweave taps out! nice BJJ there by Foe!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Joe Foe! Joe Foe is the new featherweight champion!
