PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kenichi Atoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Daley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Atoshi comes to the cage accompanied by Samourai. Daley has chosen Missing Teeth as his entrance music. Sean Daley acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenichi Atoshi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sean Daley!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atoshi walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Daley falls off balance throwing a combination
and Atoshi counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Atoshi throws a head kick but Daley moves out of range.

Daley closes the distance and clinches.
Daley lands with a short shot to the head.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Daley takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Atoshi has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Atoshi looking to stall.
Daley tries to work over Atoshi's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Daley scores with a hook to the body.
Atoshi tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Daley avoids it.

Stalling in the clinch from Daley.
Atoshi is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Daley is defending well for now.
Daley misses with some punches.
Daley has Atoshi pressed against the cage.

Daley manages to pull guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Atoshi trying to control but Daley is working from the bottom.
Daley looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Daley not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Daley wants to get back to his feet but Atoshi is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Daley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Atoshi defends it easily.

Daley wants to sweep but Atoshi has passed to side control!
Atoshi wants to stand but Daley is controlling his arm.
Daley tries to buck Atoshi off but Atoshi is having none of it.

Atoshi trying to control the position but Daley is working away.
Atoshi connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Daley some visible discomfort.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Atoshi throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Daley tries to improve position but can't.
Atoshi wants to stand but Daley has his arm trapped.
Daley sneaks back into half guard.

Atoshi is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Atoshi prevents Daley from improving his position.
Daley controlling the position for now.
Daley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Atoshi is working away from the top position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Atoshi is working for a kimura but Daley is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are battling for position here. Daley manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Atoshi fails with an attempt to clinch.

Atoshi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Daley to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Daley looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Daley is looking to stall here but Atoshi recovers full guard.
Sean Daley has got the better of the ground game so far.

Atoshi manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Daley wants to hold on but Atoshi pushes him away.
Daley is trying desperately to improve position.

Atoshi thows a huge punch but Daley dodges it nicely.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Atoshi is keen to just control but Daley is a slippery customer.

Atoshi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Daley does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Daley is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Atoshi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Atoshi's back!
Atoshi turns into Daley and is now in his guard.

Daley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Atoshi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Atoshi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Atoshi wants to pass the guard but Daley is keeping the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sean Daley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Atoshi fails to land the takedown.
Atoshi tries to clinch but Daley moves out of range.
Atoshi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Daley sprawls well. Daley wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Atoshi gets slowly back to his feet.
Daley throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Sean Daley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Daley shoots in and gets a takedown into Atoshi's guard.
Daley trying to control the position from guard on top but Atoshi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Daley is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Daley stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Atoshi manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Daley on his heels. He'll look to pass Daley's guard now, I'm sure.

Atoshi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Daley has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Atoshi has managed to get both his arms back between Daley's legs - danger averted.

Daley throws his legs up looking for a submission but Atoshi uses it to pass to side control.
Daley takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Daley looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Atoshi has picked Daley up and slammed him! Daley can't keep hold of the triangle and Atoshi manages to pass to side control!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Atoshi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Daley is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Atoshi in side control, throwing shots but Daley defends.

Daley manages to work his way to half guard, despite Atoshi's best efforts.

Daley is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Sean Daley is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Atoshi thows a huge punch but Daley dodges it nicely.

Atoshi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Daley defends it well.

Sean Daley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Daley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Sean Daley decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
