Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Bobby Brown! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Aewult Byrne! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Steven Brown and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Byrne looks to score with a jab to the body but Brown is just out of range. Brown bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. A slapping leg kick lands for Brown.
Brown has a takedown stuffed. Brown gets a double leg takedown into Byrne's guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Brown is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Byrne throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Byrne swivels though and keeps the full guard. But no, Byrne has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Brown but great work by Byrne. Brown gets back to half guard. Byrne can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brown is looking to escape. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Byrne cracks Brown with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Brown manages to regain half guard. Good work. Brown regains full guard. Nicely done. Brown lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Byrne! The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Brown with some aggressive grappling here.
