Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Aata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aata has chosen If you Wanty Blood You Got It by AC/DC as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tony Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Aata! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones misses with a hook. Aata ducked under it nicely. Jones tries to sprawl but Aata drives through with a takedown into half guard. Jones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Aata is working away from the top position though. Jones throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Jones is trying to maintain the position but Aata is very close to passing his half guard. Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The fighters are battling for position here. Jones manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Aata controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Aata preventing the sweep. Aata throws a strike but Jones rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Aata is trying to hold Jones in close to prevent damage but Jones has managed to pass into half guard.
Aata is looking to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones not landing any meaningful shots this time. Jones trying to control from half guard but Aata is working away. Jones is looking to advance position but Aata won't allow it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Jones looks to land a strike but Aata avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Aata bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard. Aata pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jones is keeping the position for now. Jones looking to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.
Jones drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Aata manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jones has Aata in his guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Aata is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Aata controlling from the top position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Aata being controlled here momentarily. Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy. Aata wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Robert Aata has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Jones fails with a takedown attempt. Aata throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jones dives in and grabs Aata's left leg, looking for a takedown. Aata pushes down on Jones's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him. The fight stays on the outside here - Aata looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Jones fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Aata moves into the clinch successfully.
Jones takes a knee to the side of the body. Jones is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Aata escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Aata is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Jones scores with a nice head shot. Aata clinches. Jones tries to score a body lock takedown but Aata shows good agility there to stay on his feet. A frustrated look appears on Jones's face as he tries to break the clinch. Aata breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Aata drives through with a takedown into Jones's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Aata decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jones, up you get! Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Aata circles away. Aata fails in his attempt to clinch. Aata closes the distance and clinches. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Aata landing knees to the body.
Jones drops down looking for an ankle pick but Aata pulls his leg out and moves away.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Jones enables Aata to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jones manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Robert Aata dominated that round. That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Aata moves into the clinch. Aata crunches a lovely knee into Jones's ribcage. Aata is trying to trip Jones. He has hold of a leg but Jones is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Aata persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Jones keeping moving, preventing Aata from controlling successfully. Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Robert Aata has got the better of the ground game so far. Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jones is striking but Aata is not phased and passes to half guard. Aata thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Aata slips a nice elbow through Jones's hands, connecting with Jones's forehead. Aata slows the pace down in half guard. Aata is thwarting Jones's attempts to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aata sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jones defending well though. Jones wants to improve his position but Aata is controlling well.
Aata tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Jones is not content to let Aata control the position. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Aata throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Jones keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Jones is looking to control Aata's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jones avoid being mounted? Aata is trying to work for a kimura but Jones is defending well.
Jones looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Aata thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head. Jones works his way to full guard. Good work. Aata tries to stand but Jones is controlling from the bottom. Jones trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Aata wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aata wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position. Jones lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Aata! Jones controlling the pace for now. Jones goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Aata is on top in guard.
Aata postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aata wanted to stand there but Jones had control of the position. Aata is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Aata sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Jones doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Aata paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Jones - great work!
