2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tank Abbot! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abbot will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Abbot jabs at Yamashita's body. Yamashita thows a left - swing and a miss! Yamashita looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Abbot is fending him off so far but Yamashita persists. Nope, Abbot circles away and we're back to standing. Yamashita shoots in for a takedown but Abbot shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Abbot fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Yamashita is trying hard to land a takedown here. Abbot sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yasuhiro Yamashita. That's going to take a lot out of him. Yamashita misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Abbot connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Decent striking displayed by Abbot there. This has been an exciting period of action! Abbot moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Abbot throws a body punch but Yamashita moves out of range. Yamashita has his takedown stuffed and Abbot cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. A jab lands there for Abbot. Yamashita looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yamashita shoots in looking for a takedown. Abbot tries to sprawl out of it but Yamashita keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Abbot manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Abbot throws a series of punches but Yamashita avoids them all with ease. Yamashita ducks right into an uppercut from Abbot. Abbot is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Abbot's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Abbot duly obliges. Abbot ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Yamashita shoots in but no luck this time. Yamashita closes the distance looking to clinch and Abbot counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Abbot cracks Yamashita with a good jab. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Yamashita. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. This has been an exciting period of action! Abbot lands a nice looking body shot.
A jab from Abbot finds it's way through Yamashita's defenses. Danga de danga de dang - Abbot scores with a four punch combination! Yasuhiro Yamashita seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice shot lands for Abbot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yamashita on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Tank Abbot is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Abbot displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Yamashita. Abbot tests Yamashita's chin there with a solid looking shot. Nice takedown defense from Abbot. No joy for Yamashita on that attempt. Abbot has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. No luck with that takedown attempt from Yamashita. Abbot leaves Yamashita with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Abbot scores with a hook. Abbot scores with a decent looking hook. Yamashita takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Yamashita tries to move into range but Abbot moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Yamashita fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Yamashita tries for a takedown but Abbot circles away easily and Abbot counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Yamashita is breathing heavily. Yamashita takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Abbot lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Abbot keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Yamashita shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Abbot but Abbot pushes him off and we're back to square one. Abbot throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Yamashita on the side of the head. Abbot lands with an overhand left. Abbot lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Yamashita thows a left - swing and a miss! Abbot stuffs the takedown attempt from Yamashita. Yamashita gets slowly back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A jab lands there for Abbot. Yamashita takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Yamashita fails with a takedown attempt. Abbot stuffs the takedown attempt from Yamashita. Yamashita gets slowly back to his feet. Abbot is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Yamashita had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Abbot scores with a hook. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Abbot, as that shot connected.
Yamashita connects with a leg kick. Abbot looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Yamashita shoots in for a double leg but Abbot sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Yamashita takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Yamashita looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Abbot dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Abbot lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Yamashita at a distance.
Yamashita scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tank Abbot dominated that round. That's time! Yamashita's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
A jab lands there for Abbot. Yamashita decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Abbot wants to get back to his feet. Yamashita is pressing down on Abbot's thigh, looking to free his foot. Abbot is holding on for now. Abbot is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Abbot holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Abbot wants to get back to his feet. Yamashita is trying to control the action in half guard but Abbot is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Abbot is looking to improve his position.
Yamashita is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Abbot doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Yamashita. Abbot is not content to let Yamashita control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yamashita moves nicely into side control. Yamashita tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Abbot wants to control but Yamashita postures up. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Abbot is trying to buck Yamashita off. Yamashita tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Abbot can do anything to dispel that myth. Yamashita wants to lay and pray for a moment but Abbot keeps working. Yamashita is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Abbot knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Abbot wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Yamashita is looking to take a break and control but Abbot is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Yamashita passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Abbot! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Yamashita throwing strikes here but Abbot is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Yamashita landing punches. Yamashita is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Abbot to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Abbot shrugs it off. Abbot is looking to improve his position but Yamashita isn't that keen on the idea.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Abbot tries to hold on but Yamashita pushes him away. Abbot is wriggling around trying to escape.
Yamashita is working for a guillotine from mount but Abbot frees his head quite easily.
Abbot really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yamashita. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Abbot is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Abbot is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Yamashita has just dragged him back down to the mat. Yamashita wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Abbot, who protects the arm well. Yasuhiro Yamashita dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Yamashita fails with a takedown attempt. Abbot darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Yamashita closes this distance looking for a takedown but Abbot circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yasuhiro Yamashita. That's going to take a lot out of him. Abbot lands a jab to the nose. He's pushed Yamashita's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Yamashita tries to score a power double leg takedown but Abbot sees that one coming and sprawls well. Great action here. Abbot lands a glancing blow to the side of Yamashita's head. Abbot lands a two punch combo.

Yamashita looks for a takedown but Abbot sprawls well. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Yamashita. Tank Abbot seems to be getting the better of the standup. Left hook, right uppercut from Abbot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Abbot throws out a powerful jab. Abbot throws a right and a left that Yamashita avoids nicely. Abbot lands a nice looking body shot.
Abbot has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Yamashita takes one on the button. Yamashita is looking to clinch but Abbot is avoiding it.
Abbot lands a jab to the nose. Yamashita moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Abbot lands an overhand right. Abbot swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Yamashita shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Abbot sprawls well. Abbot wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Yamashita gets slowly back to his feet. Yamashita misses with a takedown attempt - Abbot sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Yamashita changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Abbot tries to avoid it but Yamashita manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Abbot to the ground. Abbot escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Yamashita swings and misses with a shot to the body and Abbot counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Abbot connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. The fighters circle momentarily. Abbot darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Yamashita scores a takedown into full mount! Yamashita won't let Abbot get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Yamashita avoids the attempt from Abbot to control. Abbot can't escape the position.
Yamashita cracks Abbot with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Yamashita has control of Abbot's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Abbot regains control of the situation pretty easily.

And that's the end of the fight! Tank Abbot comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Abbot has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
