Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Guy Kopec (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Todd Straub (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kopec kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Boats 'N Hoes. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Guy Kopec!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Todd Straub!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kopec waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Straub.
Kopec throws a series of punches but Straub avoids them all with ease.
Kopec throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Straub counters with a two punch combo.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Kopec is trying to trip Straub. He has hold of a leg but Straub is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kopec persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Straub is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kopec stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Straub swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

It looks like Todd Straub has been cut.
Guy Kopec seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kopec tries to sprawl but Straub drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Straub perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Straub prevents Kopec from standing back up.
Straub is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Kopec reverses the position - he's now on top in Straub's guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Straub shoots in looking for a takedown but Kopec manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Straub's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Kopec shoots for a double leg takedown but Straub sprawls well. He's pushed Kopec's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kopec throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Straub.

Kopec moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Kopec is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Straub.

Kopec really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Guy Kopec. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Straub is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kopec sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kopec loads up on a big right hand but Straub slips the punch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Straub feints and as Kopec raises his hands in defense, Straub changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Guy Kopec will probably get the nod.

Guy Kopec is winning the standup battle so far.
Straub dives in and grabs Kopec's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kopec pushes down on Straub's head and hops out.
Todd Straub is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kopec throws a right and a left that both miss.

Straub stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kopec swivels though and keeps the full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Todd Straub hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Straub wants to control from the top but Kopec keeps moving.

Kopec manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Kopec scores with a punch to the head.
Kopec jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kopec throws a right and a left that Straub avoids nicely.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Kopec throws a lazy uppercut

Kopec is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Kopec will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to Todd Straub.
I think Straub has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
