Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Victor Romanoff!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jukka Purjo!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Sergei Dronov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Purjo looks to throw the jab but Romanoff is out of range.
Romanoff looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Purjo is fending him off so far but Romanoff persists. Nope, Purjo circles away and we're back to standing.
Purjo thuds his right hand into Romanoff's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Romanoff is refusing to be controlled, as Purjo sits in half guard.

Romanoff is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Purjo pulls his head out easily.
Romanoff wants to improve his position but Purjo is controlling well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Purjo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Romanoff's guard.

Romanoff had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Purjo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Romanoff Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Purjo's back instead.

Purjo stands up and beckons Romanoff to join him on the feet.

Purjo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Romanoff working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Purjo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Purjo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Romanoff is looking for a sweep. Purjo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Romanoff is working hard here to advance position.
Romanoff is trying to maintain the position but Purjo is very close to passing his half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jukka Purjo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Purjo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Romanoff moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Horrible takedown by Romanoff or perhaps it was just good defense by Purjo which made him look bad.
Romanoff looks to land a combination but Purjo avoids it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Romanoff throws and elbow that misses. Purjo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Romanoff's guard. Nice move by Purjo!

Purjo looking to sit in guard and control but Romanoff gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Purjo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Purjo pulls Romanoff in close to his closed guard and prevents Romanoff from doing any damage or advancing position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Purjo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Romanoff is controlling him.

Jukka Purjo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Purjo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
