PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nick Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Elder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nick Evans is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nick Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Adam Elder!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elder slaps away a takedown attempt from Evans, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Evans has taken the fight to the clinch.
Evans misses with a short punch on the inside.
Elder unloads a knee to the mid-section.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Evans avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Elder has his foot on Evans's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Evans works his way back into a safe position though.

Evans gets to his feet - Elder follows without any prompting.
Evans shoots in looking for a takedown. Elder tries to sprawl out of it but Evans keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Elder manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Evans jumps guard but Elder stands there with Evans around his waist. Evans gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Evans is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Elder can't fight it off and eventually Evans manages to take the fight to the floor. Elder looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Evans suckers Elder into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Evans is now in Elder's guard!

Elder pushes Evans off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Evans is breathing heavily.
Evans shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Elder as he jumps to the side.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Evans has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Elder is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Evans closes the distance and clinches up with Elder, looking for a takedown. Evans pushes Elder against the cage but Elder circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Evans moves in looking to clinch but Elder pushes him off.
Elder uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Evans has time to react.

Evans manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Elder on his heels. He'll look to pass Elder's guard now, I'm sure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Elder kicks Evans off and gets to his feet.

Elder pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

A head kick by Evans misses
and Elder counters with a one-two to the body.
Evans displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Elder.

Evans feints and as Elder raises his hands in defense, Evans changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Evans is looking to stand up but Elder won't let him.
Elder has control of Evans's left arm, preventing Evans from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Evans has gone for a leg lock! Elder slips out almost immediately though and dives into Evans's guard.

Evans avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nick Evans.
Well Elder has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
