PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pruchasvok Nevinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyoto Carvalho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pruchasvok Nevinski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lyoto Carvalho!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvalho avoids a kick to the body.
Nevinski throws a right hand that Carvalho ducks under and follows up with a left that Carvalho also avoids with ease.
A punch combination from Nevinski misses.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Carvalho.
Nevinski will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A thudding body kick lands there by Carvalho!
Carvalho tries to clinch up but Nevinski circles away and keeps his distance.
Nevinski throws a right hand that Carvalho ducks under and follows up with a left that Carvalho also avoids with ease.
Carvalho takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Carvalho lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Pruchasvok Nevinski has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nevinski throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Sloppy strikes from Nevinski. Those never looked like landing.
Nevinski tries to bum rush Carvalho with a series of wild strikes but Carvalho uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Nevinski throws a push kick but Carvalho slaps the foot to one side.

A big head kick from Carvalho and Nevinski is sent sprawling to the canvas!


Nevinski is rocked!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Carvalho trying to control the position from guard on top but Nevinski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Oh Nevinski is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carvalho controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Carvalho slips nicely into half guard.
Carvalho passes to full mount!
Nevinski seems to have got his legs back now.

Carvalho moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Nevinski has worked his arm free - good work by Nevinski!

Carvalho looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Carvalho is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nevinski has escaped the position, nice work there.
Carvalho trying to control the action but Nevinski is working from the bottom.
Nevinski wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carvalho creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Nevinski sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Nevinski explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Carvalho throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Pruchasvok Nevinski is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Carvalho blocks a head kick by Nevinski.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

A head kick lands from Carvalho that sends Nevinski to the canvas. Nevinski tries to scramble back to his feet but Carvalho brings him back down into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Carvalho is looking to take a break and control but Nevinski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lyoto Carvalho dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Pruchasvok Nevinski's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Nevinski throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Carvalho.
Nevinski misses with the combination.
Nevinski looks to land a body kick but Carvalho moved away.
Nevinski throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and as Nevinski loses concentration momentarily, Carvalho counters with a picture perfect head kick! Nevinski goes down, out cold! The referee rushed in to check on his condition - I'm sure he'll be ok but that was a massive knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Lyoto Carvalho!
A relieved looking Lyoto Carvalho thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
