Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrei Kozlov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia avoids the head kick by Kozlov.
Garcia on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kozlov. Kozlov obviously looking to wear him down.

and Kozlov counters with a good low kick that Garcia was not able to check.
Garcia swats away the attempt to clinch by Kozlov.

Garcia takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Kozlov rushes Garcia and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Kozlov takes an elbow to the temple.

Garcia pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Garcia throws a series of punches but Kozlov avoids them all with ease.

Kozlov fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Garcia, pushing him back against the cage.
Kozlov tries to pull guard but Garcia won't allow it.
Kozlov is trying to pull guard but Garcia turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Kozlov fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrei Kozlov. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kozlov tries to land a knee to the head but Garcia blocks with his arms.
Kozlov tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Garcia smiles and moves away.

Garcia throws out a loose jab but Kozlov uses good head movement to avoid it.

Garcia avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kozlov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Garcia paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Garcia instigates a clinch.
Kozlov's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Garcia tries to land a front kick but Kozlov steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Kozlov tries to clinch up but Garcia circles away and keeps his distance.
Garcia misses with a jab, cross combination.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Garcia throws a leg kick but Kozlov sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Garcia scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Andrei Kozlov will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sloppy strikes from Garcia. Those never looked like landing.
Garcia keeps the fight on the outside.

and Kozlov holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kozlov blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Garcia has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kozlov is proving hard to escape from.
Kozlov not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Garcia must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Garcia tries to stand but Kozlov is controlling from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kozlov had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Garcia defends it easily.

Kozlov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Garcia defends well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Garcia won't allow Kozlov to sweep him here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kozlov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Garcia is aware though and is defending well.
Garcia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kozlov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Garcia won't allow Kozlov to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrei Kozlov dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Kozlov steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Garcia. That one must have hurt.
Andrei Kozlov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Garcia lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kozlov has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kozlov and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Garcia misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Robert Garcia seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Kozlov tries to clinch there but Garcia circles away.
Kozlov moves out of range of the leg kick from Garcia.
Garcia throws a push kick but Kozlov slaps the foot to one side.
Garcia throws a body kick the misses
and Kozlov counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Garcia is lucky that one didn't land flush.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Kozlov avoids a wild elbow strike from Garcia.
Kozlov tries to pull guard but Garcia holds him up against the cage and eventually Kozlov drops back down to his feet.
Garcia wants to break free but Kozlov has control.
Garcia lands a good knee to the midsection. Kozlov won't want to take too many of those.

Kozlov has his foot on Garcia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Garcia works his way back into a safe position though.
Garcia trying to stand up but can't free himself from Kozlov's guard.

Kozlov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Garcia doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Garcia manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Garcia got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kozlov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Garcia has managed to get both his arms back between Kozlov's legs - danger averted.
Garcia postures up.
Garcia seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kozlov is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Garcia has his hands clasped together but Kozlov extends an breaks Garcia's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Kozlov.
