PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between William Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manny Quioxte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harrison comes into the arena with God's Gonna Cut You Down blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, William Harrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Manny Quioxte!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Quioxte tries to sprawl but Harrison drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Harrison is working for a submission of some sort.
Quioxte has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Harrison is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quioxte gets full guard.
Quioxte controls Harrison momentarily but Harrison frees himself.

Harrison is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Quioxte looking to sit in guard and control but Harrison gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Harrison prevents Quioxte from getting back to his feet.
Quioxte wants to sweep but no luck.
Harrison tries to free his leg and advance position but Quioxte is retaining full guard.
Harrison wants to control from the top but Quioxte keeps moving.

That was a close round but I would say that William Harrison will probably get the nod.

Harrison throws a good cross that connects.
Harrison jabs Quioxte right on the nose. Quioxte blinks but takes it well.
Harrison dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

The fight stays on the outside here - Harrison looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
William Harrison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Quioxte throws a solid leg kick but Harrison takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Quioxte.

Harrison closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Quioxte quickly recovers to half guard.

Harrison is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Quioxte doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Harrison.

Quioxte wants to get back to his feet.
Harrison thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Quioxte's head.

Harrison is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Quioxte really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harrison. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Harrison is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Quioxte is just riding it out for now. Harrison eventually gives up the hold.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Quioxte can do anything to dispel that myth.

Quioxte tries to roll over but Harrison keeps him under control.
Harrison tries to pass the half guard into mount. Quioxte knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Harrison is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Quioxte has escaped the position, nice work there.

Harrison throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Quioxte's waist but Quioxte gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Harrison off to one side.
Quioxte thows a body shot but no joy.
Harrison misses with a straight right.
Harrison tries to clinch there but Quioxte circles away.
Manny Quioxte has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Quioxte misses with a straight right.
Harrison ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Quioxte looks to land a body kick but Harrison moved away.
Quioxte drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
William Harrison is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Harrison throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Quioxte.

And that's the end of the fight!
William Harrison showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Harrison, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
