Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexej Stepanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Pablo Batallir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stepanov comes to the cage accompanied by Limp Bizkit - My Generation . There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexej Stepanov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Juan Pablo Batallir!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Batallir - that will leave a mark!
Stepanov shoots in but no luck this time.
Stepanov takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Batallir avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Stepanov tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Stepanov shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alexej Stepanov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Batallir throws a sloppy head kick and Stepanov moves out of range easily.
Stepanov fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alexej Stepanov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Batallir throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Stepanov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Batallir swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Batallir scores with a leg kick.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Batallir.
Stepanov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Stepanov misses with a takedown attempt - Batallir sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Batallir displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Stepanov.
No joy there for Stepanov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nice body kick from Batallir.

and Batallir counters with a head kick.

Batallir cracks a nice hook into Stepanov's ribs.
Batallir stuffs the takedown attempt from Stepanov. Stepanov gets slowly back to his feet.
Batallir throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Stepanov closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Batallir did well to prevent Stepanov getting side control.
Batallir is trying to get back to full guard.
Stepanov is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Batallir!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stepanov looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Batallir trying desperately to get to his feet.

Stepanov stands up from mount. Strange move.

Batallir throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Batallir misses with a head kick.
Batallir throws a leg kick that misses.
Batallir dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Stepanov. That did some damage!
Stepanov on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Batallir misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Batallir turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Batallir thows a body shot but no joy.

Stepanov clinches with his opponent.
Batallir scores with a shot to the side of Stepanov's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stepanov wants a takedown.

Stepanov manages to pull guard.
Stepanov being controlled here, momentarily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stepanov is on top in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Batallir working a defensive guard but Stepanov manages to pass into side control anyway.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Pablo Batallir dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Stepanov looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Stepanov wants to control from the top but Batallir keeps moving.
Stepanov forces his way into half guard.
Batallir is trying to get back to full guard.
Stepanov trying to control from half guard but Batallir is working away.
Stepanov working the head and body with strikes.
Stepanov tries to pass the half guard into mount. Batallir knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Batallir is looking to control Stepanov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Batallir avoid being mounted?
Batallir tries to get to full guard but Stepanov has control of the leg.
Batallir is looking to get back to full guard here but Stepanov has managed to pass to side control instead.
Stepanov controlling from side mount.
Stepanov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Batallir keeps working.
Batallir really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stepanov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stepanov cracks Batallir with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Batallir prevents Stepanov from moving into mount.
Stepanov tries to score with some ground and pound. Batallir controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Stepanov wants to control but Batallir is keeping him busy.
Batallir tries to buck Stepanov off but Stepanov is having none of it.
Stepanov is looking to take a break and control but Batallir is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Batallir can do anything to dispel that myth.
Stepanov advances to full mount.
Batallir is trying to stand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Stepanov jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Batallir manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Stepanov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Stepanov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Stepanov misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Batallir struggling a bit here.
Batallir is not content to let Stepanov control the position.

Stepanov stands up and we're back to a striking position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stepanov misses with a takedown attempt
and Batallir counters with a good, hard body kick but Stepanov shrugs it off.
Batallir tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Stepanov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Batallir sprawls well initially but Stepanov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Stepanov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Batallir is controlling Stepanov's position as best he can from this difficult position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Batallir is staying active underneath Stepanov, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Stepanov is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Batallir is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Alexej Stepanov!
