Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Juan Tyson Marquez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lil Bastard!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marquez connects with a body shot that sends Bastard's belly button to the back.
Bastard throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Marquez sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Marquez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bastard.
Bastard closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Bastard shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Bastard working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Bastard won't allow Marquez to sweep him here.

Marquez looking for a guillotine here but Bastard defends easily.
Bastard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marquez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Marquez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Marquez working for a triangle but Bastard defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bastard trying to control but Marquez is working from the bottom.
Marquez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Marquez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bastard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bastard trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Bastard trying to control but Marquez is working from the bottom.
Bastard loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Bastard must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Marquez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Bastard wants to control from the top but Marquez keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marquez wants to sweep but no luck.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bastard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bastard loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Marquez has momentary wrist control but Bastard slips an elbow through the middle.
Bastard throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Marquez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Bastard makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Bastard is looking to work some ground and pound but Marquez has wrist control.

Marquez had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bastard defends it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bastard postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Marquez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Bastard.

Bastard is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Bastard trying to control the position from guard on top but Marquez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Marquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Marquez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bastard is aware though and is defending well.

Bastard is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Marquez has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Bastard is looking to defend but Marquez has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Bastard! Marquez pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Bastard taps out and this one is all over!
