These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Otsuma dives in and grabs Nifontov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nifontov pushes down on Otsuma's head and hops out.

Nifontov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Otsuma is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Nifontov trying to control the action but Otsuma is working from the bottom.

Nifontov wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Otsuma, who protects the arm well.

Nifontov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Otsuma wants to control but Nifontov postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Otsuma is pushing Nifontov's head away, looking to escape. Nifontov manages to hold on to the position though.

Nifontov is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Otsuma has escaped the position, nice work there.

Nifontov is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Otsuma is trying to escape and Nifontov transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Otsuma is forced to tap! Nice work there by Nifontov! Very nice indeed!
