Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clark Kent! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Asaki Hioko! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hioko looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Kent moves away from the strike by Hioko. Kent ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hioko moves away. Kent takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Clark Kent seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A big left from Hioko misses. Hioko cracks a nice hook into Kent's ribs. Kent manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hioko on his heels. He'll look to pass Hioko's guard now, I'm sure. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Kent wants to pass the guard but Hioko is keeping the position. Kent wants to control from the top but Hioko keeps moving. Kent passes into half guard. Still in half guard, Kent seems content to control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hioko is trying to stand.
Kent is looking to take a break and control but Hioko is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Hioko is trying to stand up here but Kent is controlling him well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kent passes the guard and advances to mount! Kent controlling from mount. You get the feeling that Hioko really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Hioko's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kent with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hioko is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Kent wants to control the pace but Hioko is squirming around nicely. Hioko tries to buck Kent off but Kent takes his back! Kent is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Hioko knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Hioko for a finish. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kent has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hioko has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Kent is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Hioko has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Kent working for the choke. Hioko is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kent looking for the choke but no joy. Hioko controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Hioko is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Kent off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Kent is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Hioko taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Kent.
