Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Kei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marin Perkovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Perkovic's choice of entrance music: Tyga - Rack City. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Kei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marin Perkovic!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perkovic misses with a double jab.
Kei looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

and Kei counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Kei looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Perkovic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kei. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kei is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Perkovic is just riding it out for now. Kei eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kei seems to be working for a kimura but Perkovic defends the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kei is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Kei is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Perkovic defends it well.

Kei is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Perkovic doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kei.
Perkovic pushes Kei off looking to stand but Kei dives back in and keeps control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Kei is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Sloppy strikes from Perkovic. Those never looked like landing.

Marin Perkovic is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Perkovic throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kei's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Perkovic connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kei scrambles back to his feet.

Kei is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Perkovic sees it coming and defends easily.

Kei seems to be looking for submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kei is looking for a kimura but Perkovic is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kei to get the leverage.

Kei seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Perkovic has recovered full guard.

Kei is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Kei has gone for a leg lock! Perkovic slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kei's guard.
Perkovic wants to stand but Kei is controlling his posture from full guard.

Kei doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Perkovic gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Perkovic keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Perkovic swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Perkovic falls off balance throwing a combination

and Kei holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Perkovic is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Kei is looking to take this one to the mat.
Perkovic is looking to break free of the clinch but Kei has double underhooks.
Perkovic tries to circle away but Kei has him pinned against the cage.
Perkovic wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Perkovic is trying to break the clinch but Kei is controlling him.

Kei breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kei shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Perkovic but Perkovic pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Kei. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Perkovic will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kei.
Perkovic looks to land a combination but Kei avoids it well.
Marin Perkovic is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Perkovic rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kei moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Perkovic throws a combination that misses

and Kei holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Kei gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Perkovic regains guard.

Kei drops back looking for a leg! Perkovic is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Perkovic manages to kick Kei off! Kei jumps back into Perkovic's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kei drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Perkovic manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kei has Perkovic in his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that John Kei will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Perkovic lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kei circles away quickly and effectively.

Marin Perkovic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Perkovic misses with the combination.
Some wild striking there from Perkovic.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Perkovic throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Kei counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Kei postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Perkovic is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kei, into his guard.

Kei is looking for a triangle but Perkovic pushes his legs off easily.
Perkovic would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Perkovic is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Kei has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Perkovic is looking to defend but Kei has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Perkovic! Kei pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Perkovic taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). John Kei!
