Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between DeeJay Dickson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Paru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paru is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Tropa de Elite, osso duro de roer. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paru keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Dickson misses with a body shot.
Dickson shoots in for a takedown but Paru shows good takedown defense.

Dickson moves into the clinch.

Dickson gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Paru regains guard.

Paru working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dickson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dickson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Paru is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Paru is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Dickson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Paru's head.
Dickson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Paru is working an open guard so Dickson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Dickson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Paru did well to prevent Dickson getting side control.

Dickson seems to be looking for submissions.
Dickson winds up and cracks Paru with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Paru has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dickson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Dickson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
