Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ruslan Smirnov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerry Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jerry Cox will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ruslan Smirnov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jerry Cox! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cox misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Smirnov.
Ruslan Smirnov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cox takes a swing at Smirnov's ribcage but misses. Smirnov looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Smirnov throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cox works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Smirnov postures up in Cox's guard and throws a big left but Cox blocks it. Smirnov throws a big elbow that misses. Smirnov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cox swivels though and keeps the full guard. Smirnov makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cox can do anything to dispel that myth. Smirnov tries to free his leg and advance position but Cox is retaining full guard. Smirnov trying to control the position from guard on top but Cox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smirnov throws a big elbow that misses. Smirnov loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Smirnov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smirnov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Smirnov trying to control the position from guard on top but Cox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cox really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smirnov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smirnov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Smirnov throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Smirnov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Cox can't keep his opponent in guard - Smirnov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ruslan Smirnov. Smirnov takes a shot right to the bread basket. Smirnov shoots in and drives through. Cox sprawls well. Cox misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Smirnov.

Jerry Cox is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Smirnov tries to clinch but Cox is having none of it. Cox is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Smirnov rather than just go for the knockout. Nice sprawl there from Cox as Smirnov shoots in. That's four minutes gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smirnov. Cox scores with a hook. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cox with a hook. Cox looks to score with a jab to the body but Smirnov is just out of range. Cox throws a right and a left that Smirnov avoids nicely. Cox jabs Smirnov right on the nose. Smirnov blinks but takes it well. Smirnov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cox scores with a shot to the body.
Cox bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Smirnov with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Cox to score with a decent uppercut. Cox stuns Smirnov with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jerry Cox will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Ruslan Smirnov's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Smirnov misses with a low kick. Smirnov shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cox is trying to defend but Smirnov finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Cox keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Smirnov tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cox knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Smirnov is working for a submission of some sort.
Smirnov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cox is just riding it out for now. Smirnov eventually gives up the hold. Smirnov not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Smirnov passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Cox! Smirnov throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Smirnov misses with a head shot. Cox wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Smirnov.

Smirnov putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Cox tries to lock up and control but Smirnov gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Smirnov thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Smirnov scoring with strikes but Cox is staying in there. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Smirnov lands with some strikes. Cox is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Cox wants to hold on but Smirnov pushes him away.

Smirnov trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Smirnov looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Cox is defending well. Smirnov quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Cox has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Smirnov celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
