Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dump Liddel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and akuma shogun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! shogun misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Liddel fails with the takedown. shogun forces Liddel back against the cage and clinches. Liddel can't get the takedown.
shogun lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
It looks like Dump Liddel has been cut. shogun wants the takedown. Liddel is fighting it off but shogun persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Liddel's guard against the cage. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! shogun wants to stand and escape but instead Liddel has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. shogun wants to stand and escape but Liddel is having none of it. shogun preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Liddel tries to stand but shogun is controlling from the bottom. Liddel stops shogun from standing up. shogun really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Liddel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Liddel is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Liddel is breathing heavily. Liddel wants to pass the guard but shogun is keeping the position. shogun manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Liddel stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
That's one minute gone in the round. shogun looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Liddel has his takedown stuffed and shogun counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Liddel! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dump Liddel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Liddel working to try and regain half guard.
shogun controlling the pace for now. shogun stands up from mount. Strange move. Liddel with a poor takedown and shogun counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by shogun. shogun has picked Liddel up - he's going for a ride! shogun dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. shogun tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Liddel is looking to control shogun's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Liddel avoid being mounted? shogun seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Liddel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. shogun is trying to stand up. Liddel is working for a guillotine from mount but shogun frees his head quite easily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if shogun can do anything to dispel that myth. Liddel get's back to his feet. Liddel shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in shogun's guard. Liddel has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of shogun is proving hard to escape from. Liddel stands and throws shogun's legs to the side, diving into side control. Liddel tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Liddel has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! shogun wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Liddel working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Liddel creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Liddel thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Liddel has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Liddel misses with a takedown attempt and shogun counters with a nice double leg into guard. Liddel looking to sweep here. No luck so far. shogun would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. shogun must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. shogun stands up from guard. Let's bang!
That's four minutes gone in the round. shogun shoots for a takedown but Liddel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Liddel tries for a takedown but shogun sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. shogun with a lazy takedown attempt and Liddel counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Liddel with a lazy takedown attempt and shogun holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. shogun pushes Liddel back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. shogun gets a trip takedown into half guard. Liddel wants to control but shogun is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Liddel looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. shogun wants to stand up but Liddel is controlling the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. shogun stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
akuma shogun dominated that round. The cut man is working on Dump Liddel's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Liddel shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and shogun counters with a single leg into guard. Liddel didn't expect that. shogun stands and steps away. Liddel gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Liddel has his takedown stuffed and shogun counters with a nice uppercut. Liddel tries for a takedown but shogun circles away easily and shogun counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Liddel's guard now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dump Liddel. That's going to take a lot out of him. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! shogun wants to stand but Liddel has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. shogun decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Liddel, up you get! shogun shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Liddel pinned against the cage. Liddel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. shogun showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Liddel.
That's one minute gone in the round. Liddel with a lazy takedown attempt and shogun counters with a two punch combo. shogun has closed the distance and engaged Liddel in a clinch.

Liddel goes for a takedown attempt but shogun pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Liddel bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Liddel looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's two minutes gone in the round. shogun pushes Liddel away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Liddel gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Liddel wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by shogun, who protects the arm well. Liddel throws an elbow but shogun slips to the side and avoids it well. Liddel decides to stand back up. Liddel steps back and let's shogun get back to his feet. Liddel misses with a takedown attempt and shogun counters by moving into the clinch. shogun tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Liddel tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. shogun smiles and moves away.
shogun blocks a head kick by Liddel.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice sprawl there from shogun as Liddel shoots in. Liddel looks to score with a jab to the body but shogun is just out of range. Liddel scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. A jab lands there for Liddel. Liddel fails with the takedown and shogun counters with a takedown into side control. shogun stands up. Dump Liddel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Liddel tries for a takedown but shogun circles away easily and shogun counters into the clinch. Nicely done. shogun pulls guard effortlessly. shogun is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Liddel dives into side control.
shogun is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Liddel is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. shogun looks calm but he's in trouble here. Liddel gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. shogun is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Liddel lets go of the hold and shogun can pop his arm back in it's socket.
