PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Hendricks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Hart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Hendricks!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hart enables Hendricks to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hart manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hendricks wants to control from the top but Hart keeps moving.
Hendricks makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Hart working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hendricks doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hendricks manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hart is looking for a triangle but Hendricks pushes his legs off easily.

Hendricks postures up in Hart's guard and throws a big left but Hart blocks it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hendricks accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hendricks keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hart's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hendricks landing some decent shots from guard.
Hendricks wants to pass the guard but Hart is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hendricks stands up over Hart, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hendricks tries to free his leg and advance position but Hart is retaining full guard.
Hendricks looking to sit in guard and control but Hart gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hendricks has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hart drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hart jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hart thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hart is breathing heavily.

Hendricks has his foot on Hart's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hart works his way back into a safe position though.

Hendricks bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hart's guard.
Hendricks wants to control from the top but Hart keeps moving.
Hendricks lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Hendricks has gone for a leg lock! Hart slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hendricks's guard.
Hendricks looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hart is one step ahead there.

Hart drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hendricks dives on top into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hendricks's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Hart keeping moving, preventing Hendricks from controlling successfully.
Hendricks working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Hendricks scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Hart escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hendricks gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hart had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hendricks defends it easily.

Hendricks stands up from guard. Let's bang!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hendricks fails with a takedown attempt.

Hart looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hendricks!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hendricks is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hendricks regains half guard.

Hart is looking for a kimura here.

Hart is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hendricks doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hart.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hendricks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hart is working away from the top position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Hendricks dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hendricks shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hart as he avoids it easily.

Hart manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hendricks on his heels. He'll look to pass Hendricks's guard now, I'm sure.

Hart drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hart jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hart is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Hendricks wants to sweep but no luck.
Hart wants to pass the guard but Hendricks is keeping the position.

Hart is sitting in close to Hendricks's body. Hendricks has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Hart is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Hart is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Hendricks.
