Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dimitri Kasavanov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Trulove Sackett! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sackett throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Nice defenses there by Sackett. Sackett is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Sackett misses with a lunging right hand
and Kasavanov counters with a shoot takedown. Sackett fights it but they end up in guard. Kasavanov won't allow Sackett to sweep him here. Kasavanov trying to control the position from guard on top but Sackett is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kasavanov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Kasavanov throwing strikes from guard but Sackett blocks nicely. Sackett avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Kasavanov controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kasavanov passes Sackett's left leg - he's now in half guard. Kasavanov keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kasavanov trying to control from half guard but Sackett is working away. Kasavanov throwing shots but Sackett is blocking nicely. Kasavanov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kasavanov thows a huge punch but Sackett dodges it nicely.
Still in half guard, Kasavanov seems content to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sackett is positioning himself well to prevent Kasavanov advancing to mount. Kasavanov lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Kasavanov is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sackett sees it coming and defends easily. Kasavanov works his way into full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kasavanov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sackett is looking to escape. Kasavanov looking to secure an arm triangle but Sackett defends it well. Kasavanov with the ground and pound from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sackett has left one of his arms exposed and Kasavanov doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Sackett screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
