PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Stroud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stroud comes to the cage accompanied by Vallenfyre - Iconoclast. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Tom Stroud!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Scott Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stroud misses with a jab, cross combination.
Lewis moves in looking to clinch but Stroud pushes him off.
Stroud throws a shot to the body.
Lewis misses with a hook. Stroud ducked under it nicely.
Stroud tries to land a front kick but Lewis steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Lewis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Lewis is trying to work for a kimura but Stroud is defending well.
Stroud is not content to let Lewis control the position.
Stroud is looking to control Lewis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stroud avoid being mounted?

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stroud is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lewis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lewis's back!
Stroud lands a shot to the body.
Stroud is not going to allow Lewis to sit and survive in this position.

Stroud is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lewis is defending well though. Stroud let's go of the attempt for now.
Stroud throwing wild punches that miss their target.
Stroud will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lewis turns into Stroud and is now in his guard.

Lewis is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Stroud is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Stroud has escaped and now he's on top!
Lewis is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Stroud throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Lewis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stroud is aware though and is defending well.
Stroud stands up over Lewis, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lewis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Stroud!
Stroud can't escape the position.
Lewis can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Stroud is looking to escape.

Lewis looking to secure an arm triangle but Stroud defends it well.

Stroud reaches up and holds on to Lewis to control the position.

Lewis has control of Stroud's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Stroud regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Stroud is in all sorts of trouble here.
Lewis looking to control but Stroud is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Stroud tries to lock up and control but Lewis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Stroud is trying to escape the mount.

The referee warns Stroud that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Lewis punching from mount but Stroud doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Lewis with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stroud wants to hold on but Lewis pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lewis goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Stroud turns into him and now he's in Lewis's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Scott Lewis will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lewis throws a shot from downtown. Stroud moves away and avoids it.
Lewis walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Stroud avoids the body shot from Lewis.
Lewis slips under a jab from Stroud.
Stroud moves out of range of the strikes.
Stroud swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Stroud walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Lewis checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
A slow jab from Lewis misses its intended target.
Stroud scores with a three punch combo!
Stroud misses with a series of wild punches.
Lewis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Stroud ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lewis moves away.
Lewis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stroud manages to avoid it.
Stroud slips a straight right by Lewis.
Stroud throws an overhand right that lands on Lewis's shoulder, as Lewis tries to avoid the shot.
Stroud misses with a double jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lewis pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Lewis is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Lewis misses the jab.
Lewis with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Horrible takedown by Lewis or perhaps it was just good defense by Stroud which made him look bad.
Tom Stroud is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stroud takes one to the side of the head.

Lewis has managed to clinch.
Lewis misses with the head strike.

Lewis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Stroud throws a right and a left that Lewis avoids nicely.

Stroud closes the distance and clinches.
Lewis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Stroud tries to throw a body punch but Lewis avoids it by throwing Stroud back against the cage.
Stroud trying to stall but Lewis improves his position.

Stroud manages to break the clinch.
Stroud takes a swing at Lewis's ribcage but misses.

Lewis throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Stroud keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Stroud throws a right and a left that both miss.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lewis. Stroud does a little dance to reset his feet.
Stroud throws a nice looking combination but Lewis bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lewis looks to score with a jab to the body but Stroud is just out of range.
Lewis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stroud paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lewis tries for a takedown but Stroud sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tom Stroud has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scott Lewis.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Stroud.
Stroud slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Lewis, as that shot connected.
Stroud changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Stroud moves away from the strike by Lewis.

Lewis gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Stroud fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Stroud has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Stroud blocks a body shot from Lewis.
Lewis tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Stroud's elbow.

Stroud breaks the clinch.
Lewis swings for the body but Stroud moves out of range.
The fighters circling - Lewis throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Stroud looks for a takedown but Lewis sprawls well.
Lewis misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Stroud.
Tom Stroud seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stroud uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lewis.
Stroud fails to land with a series of punches.
Lewis cracks Stroud with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Stroud misses with the combination.
Stroud lands a jab to the nose.

Stroud misses with a body kick.
Stroud throws a head kick but Lewis moves out of range.
Stroud rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lewis moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lewis shoots in for a takedown but Stroud shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Stroud throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Stroud manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lewis on his heels. He'll look to pass Lewis's guard now, I'm sure.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lewis is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Stroud has his hands clasped together but Lewis extends an breaks Stroud's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Lewis.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Scott Lewis!
