Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Robertson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
29 - 12 - 3, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Marx! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Robertson misses with a body shot
and Marx counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Robertson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Robertson throws a shot from downtown. Marx moves away and avoids it. Robertson looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Robertson throws an overhand right that lands on Marx's shoulder, as Marx tries to avoid the shot. A looping hook to the body misses from Robertson. Marx does a little dance to reset his feet. Robertson throws a jab when Marx was well out of range. Marx drops his hands momentarily and Robertson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Marx throws a lazy head kick and Robertson counters with a one-two to the body. Robertson throws a lazy right hand but Marx sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Robertson digs a good body shot into Marx's ribs. Robertson misses the shot to the body. Robertson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Robertson wants it to stay on the feet. Robertson moves into range and connects with a jab. A swing and a miss from Robertson. Marx ducks under a wild hook from Robertson. Marx walks into a stiff left hand from Robertson. Marx takes one on the button. Marx shoots in and drives through. Robertson sprawls well. Excellent takedown into side control there by Robertson. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Robertson just content to control the position. Marx manages to work his way to half guard, despite Robertson's best efforts. Marx keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Marx is trying to stand up here but Robertson is controlling him well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. A decent looking cross lands there for Robertson. A cross from Robertson lands. Marx tries to clinch up. Marx takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Marx works over Robertson's head and body with a nice combination.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marx shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Robertson but Robertson pushes him off and we're back to square one. Robertson scores with a jab to the head.

Marx will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Marx is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Robertson. Marx does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Robertson is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Robertson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Marx tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Robertson is in Marx's guard. Marx wants to stand but Robertson is controlling the position. Marx wants to improve his position but instead Robertson has moved into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Marx tries to kick Robertson off in order to stand up. Robertson Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Robertson controls the position. Marx manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Robertson content to control rather than advance. Marx wants to get back to full guard. Robertson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Marx is trying to stand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marx is not content to let Robertson control the position. Marx is trying to stand up here but Robertson is controlling him well. Marx wants to control but Robertson is keeping busy and won't allow it. Robertson sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Robertson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Marx throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Brian Robertson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Marx on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Robertson lands with a cross. Robertson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Marx is trying desperately to land a takedown but Robertson is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Marx. Robertson motions for Marx to come forward.
