PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keith The Beast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ati Kon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The Beast's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Loud - Mac Miller. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Keith The Beast!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ati Kon!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kon is looking to clinch.

The Beast drives through with a takedown into Kon's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kon is sneakily working for an arm triangle but The Beast sees it coming and defends easily.

Kon tries to score a power double leg takedown but The Beast sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kon somewhat.
The Beast swats away the attempt to clinch by Kon.
The Beast throws a right hand that Kon ducks under and follows up with a left that Kon also avoids with ease.
Kon throws a wild body kick that The Beast sees coming a mile off.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kon tries for a takedown but The Beast circles away easily

and The Beast counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The Beast tries to pass to full mount but Kon defends it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keith The Beast dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kon tries to clinch up but The Beast circles away and keeps his distance.

The Beast shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kon pinned against the cage. Kon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Kon shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. The Beast defends it nicely.
Keith The Beast has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ati Kon.

Kon is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in The Beast's half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Keith The Beast is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A punch lands to the side of The Beast 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Ati Kon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The Beast shoots in but Kon avoids the takedown attempt easily.

It looks like Keith The Beast has been cut.
Ati Kon seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Kon dodges the punch combination from The Beast.
The Beast drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
The Beast moves in looking to clinch but Kon pushes him off.
Kon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The Beast moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Kon shoots in for a takedown but The Beast shows good takedown defense.

Kon gets caught napping as The Beast dives in and scores a takedown. Kon manages to retain guard.
The Beast has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Kon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. The Beast doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. The Beast manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Keith The Beast overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in The Beast's guard.

Ati Kon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The Beast throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kon's waist but Kon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing The Beast off to one side.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ati Kon hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Kon has The Beast up against the cage in a clinch.

Kon ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kon no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

The Beast postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kon is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of The Beast, into his guard.

Kon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in The Beast's guard.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keith The Beast. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The Beast changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kon tries to avoid it but The Beast manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kon to the ground. Kon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ati Kon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
