The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Daniel Bishop and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
O Neill tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range.
O Neill defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Smith.
Smith scores a takedown into full mount!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Smith looking to secure an arm triangle but O Neill defends it well.
Smith landing punches.
Smith lands with some vicious ground and pound - can O Neill hang on?
Smith controlling from mount.
O Neill really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Smith punching from mount but O Neill doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Smith wants to finish this one by submission but O Neill is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Smith.

Smith is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. O Neill can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Smith goes for an armbar but O Neill turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from O Neill.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Smith has O Neill pulled in close to control his posture.
O Neill trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Smith looking for a triangle here. O Neill is fighting it but it looks tight! Smith pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, O Neill is tapping out - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). John Smith!
As John Smith got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: DONT STICK DICK IN CRAZY'.
