Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wrestling Spar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Crazy Horse Ground Fighter! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ground Fighter will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Ground Fighter gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Spar counters with a single leg into guard. Ground Fighter didn't expect that. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Ground Fighter wants to get back to his feet but Spar is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Spar postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Spar is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Spar landing with the ground and pound. Spar is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Spar throws a big elbow that misses. Ground Fighter trying to keep a closed guard but Spar is proving a slippery customer.
Ground Fighter manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Spar manages to get himself to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spar keeping moving, preventing Ground Fighter from controlling successfully. Spar working for a triangle but Ground Fighter defends it easily.
Spar is trying to control the position but Ground Fighter postures up. Spar is working an open guard so Ground Fighter takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Ground Fighter clinches up against the cage. Ground Fighter working hard to break the clinch. Spar breaks from the clinch.
Ground Fighter scores with a takedown into Spar's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ground Fighter avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Ground Fighter trying to control but Spar is working from the bottom. Spar pushes Ground Fighter off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Spar shoots in but Ground Fighter avoids the takedown attempt easily. Spar tries for a takedown but Ground Fighter circles away easily and Ground Fighter counters with a takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spar tries to get back to half guard but can't. Ground Fighter tries to move to mount but Spar blocks the move with his legs. Spar regains half guard there - taking advantage of Ground Fighter's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Spar trying to control from the bottom.
Spar is pressing down on Ground Fighter's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Ground Fighter trying to control but Spar is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spar keeping full guard, as Ground Fighter tries to pass.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spar lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ground Fighter! Ground Fighter is looking to get to half guard. Spar lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Spar breaks from Ground Fighter's wrist control and lands an elbow. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Spar dominating with strikes here.
Ground Fighter is rocked! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spar postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Ground Fighter badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Spar around the waist but Spar pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Spar is the winner by TKO! Spar jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wrestling Spar!
