Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Digger Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hideo Nomo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Digger Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hideo Nomo!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nomo fails with the takedown.
Nomo shoots in for a takedown but Griffin shows good takedown defense.
Nomo takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Griffin rushes Nomo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Griffin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Griffin throws a head kick but Nomo moves out of range.
Griffin displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like Hideo Nomo has been cut.
Griffin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nomo is looking to reverse the position.
Griffin landing strikes.
Nomo tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Griffin looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Nomo tries to buck Griffin off but Griffin is having none of it.
Nomo manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Griffin keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Nomo is working for a kimura but Griffin is defending it quite comfortably.
Nomo looks gassed!
Griffin is pressing down on Nomo's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Nomo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Griffin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Griffin has control of Nomo's left arm, preventing Nomo from doing any damage.
Griffin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nomo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Griffin holds on and takes a little breather.
Griffin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nomo on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nomo wants to pass the guard but Griffin is keeping the position.
Nomo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Griffin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Griffin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Griffin!
Nomo being controlled for a moment.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Nomo regains half guard.
Nomo has hold of Griffin's hands but Griffin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Nomo moves into full guard.
Nomo keeping moving, preventing Griffin from controlling successfully.
Nomo is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Nomo looking for a sweep. Not yet Nomo, not yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nomo looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Nomo bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Griffin's guard.
Nomo advances position into side control!
Nomo has an Americana. Griffin didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Nomo is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Nomo hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Hideo Nomo!
