The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Phil Schofield and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomson moves into range and clinches up with Mcgarry.
Mcgarry is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Thomson pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Mcgarry tries for a takedown. No joy.
Thomson tries to break free but Mcgarry pushes him back against the cage.
Thomson has picked Mcgarry up - he's going for a ride! Thomson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Thomson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Thomson decides to return to a standing position.
Thomson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Thomson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mcgarry is just riding it out for now. Thomson eventually gives up the hold.

Mcgarry is staying active underneath Thomson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Thomson gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Thomson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Thomson wants to stand but Mcgarry is controlling his posture from full guard.
Thomson sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Mcgarry doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Thomson paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Mcgarry - great work!
