The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bowman gets a clinch.
Bowman tries a body shot but Rivera blocks it.
Bowman tries to circle away but Rivera has him pinned against the cage.
Bowman takes a knee to the side of the body.
Bowman on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Rivera lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rivera lands a nice short elbow.
Bowman won't allow Rivera to pass to mount.
Rivera lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bowman is trying to stand.
Rivera works his foot free and advances to mount.
Bowman really wants to buck Rivera off and get back to his feet.

Rivera has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rivera looking to control but Bowman is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Bowman wants to hold on but Rivera pushes him away.

Rivera looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Rivera lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Bowman tries to reverse the position but Rivera maintains control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rivera has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Bowman's face.

Bowman is trying to stand.
A big strike lands for Rivera! That's really hurt Bowman and he's turned his back - Rivera keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Rivera jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Junior Rivera decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
