Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Allie Potratz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank James!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Potratz ducks under a wild hook from James.
Potratz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
James swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Potratz counters with a head kick.
James falls off balance throwing a combination
and Potratz connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Potratz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt James.
Frank James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Potratz fails in his attempt to clinch.
James misses with a shot to the body

and Potratz counters by clinching up.
A bit of stalling here from Potratz.
James is trying to break free.
Potratz lands an elbow that stopped James in his tracks for a moment.
A knee to the head by Potratz.


James is rocked!


It looks like Frank James has been cut.
James fails to pull guard.
James is still on wobbly legs! Can Potratz finish him?
Potratz can't break the clinch.
Potratz landing some nice looking knees to the body.
James seems to have recovered his senses.

Potratz breaks from the clinch.
James throws a leg kick that is checked
and Potratz counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
James tries for a takedown but Potratz circles away easily
and Potratz counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Potratz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
James misses with a body punch
and Potratz counters with a nice body kick.
Potratz throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Potratz instigates a clinch.
James goes for a takedown attempt but Potratz pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Allie Potratz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank James.
Potratz slips a jab from James.

Potratz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with James, pushing him back against the cage.

Potratz breaks from the clinch.
James throws a hook but Potratz blocks it.
James misses with a looping right.
Potratz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from James.
Potratz connects with a vicious head kick that knocks James to the floor! Potratz dives in looking for the finish!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Potratz trying to control from half guard but James is working away.
James tries to get to full guard but Potratz has control of the leg.
Potratz wants to stand up but James is controlling the position.
James is refusing to be controlled, as Potratz sits in half guard.
James tries to roll over but Potratz keeps him under control.
James manages to get to full guard.

James looking for a guillotine here but Potratz defends easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
James tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Potratz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. James is keeping the position for now.

James is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Potratz wanted to stand there but James had control of the position.
Potratz is breathing heavily.
Potratz thows a big elbow that misses.

Potratz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
James manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James trying to control but Potratz is having none of it.

James is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Potratz is surviving well by controlling James's body position as best he can.
Potratz taking shots to the head.
Potratz is trying desperately to improve position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

James is working to isolate an arm here. It's a choreographed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! James extends the arm and Potratz is forced to tap!
