PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Iron Chancellor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fox Mulder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chancellor's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Amon Tobin / El Cargo. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Iron Chancellor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fox Mulder!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mulder ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chancellor moves away.
Nice defenses there by Chancellor.
Mulder fails to land with a series of punches.
Mulder jabs Chancellor right on the nose. Chancellor blinks but takes it well.
Mulder shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Mulder throws a leg kick which misses Chancellor's front leg but catches the back leg as Chancellor tries to avoid it.

Mulder throws an elbow that misses. Chancellor uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mulder's guard. Nice move by Chancellor!
Chancellor is fighting to break Mulder's control of his arms but Mulder is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Mulder has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Fox Mulder was stalling too much, according to the referee.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Chancellor enables Mulder to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Chancellor manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mulder on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Chancellor. Chancellor obviously looking to wear him down.
Mulder throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mulder uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Chancellor has time to react.

Iron Chancellor is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Chancellor will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Mulder lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Mulder closes the distance and clinches up with Chancellor, looking for a takedown. Mulder pushes Chancellor against the cage but Chancellor circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Chancellor is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mulder is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Chancellor to the mat. Chancellor regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Well Mulder has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
