Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luciano Andrade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jay Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luciano Andrade!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Charles closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Charles lands in his opponent's guard.
Charles controls from within his opponent's guard.
Charles trying to control the position from guard on top but Andrade is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Charles is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Andrade is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jay Charles just wasn't active enough.
Charles tries to score with a low kick but Andrade moves his leg out of the way.
Andrade blocks a head kick by Charles.
Charles misses the shot to the body.
Charles avoids a kick to the body.
Andrade throws a body kick that misses.

Andrade gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Charles to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Charles trying to control but Andrade is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Andrade is looking for a triangle but Charles pushes his legs off easily.
Charles wants to control from the top but Andrade keeps moving.

Jay Charles has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Charles changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Andrade looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Charles is looking to take a break and control but Andrade is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Andrade struggling a bit here.

Charles stands up and beckons Andrade to his feet.
Andrade throws a chopping leg kick but Charles manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Charles misses with a low kick.

Charles feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Charles stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Charles throws a sloppy head kick and Andrade moves out of range easily.
Charles tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Andrade manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Andrade shoots in for a double leg but Charles sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Charles closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Andrade's guard.
Charles is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Charles trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Andrade wants to sweep here but Charles controlling him for the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Charles dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Andrade throws a right hand that Charles ducks under and follows up with a left that Charles also avoids with ease.
Charles throws a chopping leg kick but Andrade manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Charles shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Andrade's guard.
Charles postures up.
Charles working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Charles gets to his feet. Andrade looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Andrade misses with a straight right.
Andrade chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Andrade gets caught napping as Charles dives in and scores a takedown. Andrade manages to retain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Andrade has a closed guard, preventing Charles from standing up.
Andrade wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Charles is now in half guard.
Charles looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Charles is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Andrade has managed to free his arm - good work.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Charles is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Andrade regains full guard. Nicely done.
Charles looking to sit in guard and control but Andrade gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Andrade wants to control from the top but Charles keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Andrade drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Charles dives on top into guard.
Charles is pushing down on Andrade's leg trying to pass to half guard. Andrade is fighting to maintain full guard but Charles has managed to sneak the leg through.

Charles gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Andrade gets caught flat footed, as Charles shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Charles trying to control but Andrade is working from the bottom.

Andrade looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Charles passes into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Charles decides to stand up, so the ref orders Andrade to his feet.
Andrade avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Some wild striking there from Charles.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Charles enables Andrade to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Charles manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Charles dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Andrade swings for the body but Charles moves out of range.

Charles closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Andrade to the mat! Andrade manages to get full guard.
Charles passes into half guard.

Charles is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Andrade to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Andrade can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Charles controls the pace.

Andrade looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Charlesis looking to pass into half guard but Andrade pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Andrade is in guard.

Charles working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Andrade doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Andrade manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Andrade stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Charles swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Charles is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Andrade is aware though and is defending well.

Andrade stopping the sweep attempt from Charles.
Charles is trying to control the position but Andrade postures up.
Andrade postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Andrade stays in close to Charles's body and controls the position.
Andrade trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Jay Charles overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We're going to have a standup here because Jay Charles wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Charles tries to clinch up.
Andrade fails in his attempt to clinch.

Andrade lands a nice leg kick that just misses Charles's sensitive parts.
Charles misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Charles tries to bum rush Andrade with a series of wild strikes but Andrade uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Andrade lands a jab to the nose.
Andrade throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nice takedown defense from Charles. No joy for Andrade on that attempt.
Andrade looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Charles is fending him off so far but Andrade persists. Nope, Charles circles away and we're back to standing.
Andrade cracks the inside of Charles's front leg.

Charles fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Andrade to the ground. Charles is now in Andrade's guard.

Charles is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Andrade is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Andrade has escaped and now he's on top!

Luciano Andrade has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jay Charles showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Charles has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
