The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Batista avoids the body shot from Sapp.
Batista scores a takedown into full mount! Batista blocks Sapp's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Batista scoring with strikes but Sapp is staying in there. Batista has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Batista looking to control but Sapp is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Sapp keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Batista wants to control the pace but Sapp is squirming around nicely. Batista prevents Sapp from getting the reversal. Batista lands a big elbow. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Batista controlling from mount. Batista trying to control but Sapp is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sapp is rocked! Batista tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Sapp is still in real trouble! Can Batista finish him? Batista lands a nice shot to the head. Oooh a big shot lands for Batista! Sapp is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
