Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hawk Henson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Forrest Griffin will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hawk Henson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Forrest Griffin! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Joseph Jones and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Henson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Griffin sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Henson to the ground! Griffin dives into full mount looking to finish!

It looks like Hawk Henson has been cut. Henson can't escape the position.
Oh Henson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Griffin controlling his opponent. Griffin is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Henson seems to have got his legs back now. Henson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Henson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Griffin wants to get back to his feet but Henson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Henson stands up from Griffin's guard - Henson perhaps looking for a knockout. Griffin pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Griffin doesn't succeed with the takedown so Henson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Henson trying to control the position from guard on top but Griffin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Griffin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Henson throws and elbow that misses. Griffin uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Henson's guard. Nice move by Griffin! Griffin is looking to stand up but Henson won't let him. Griffin looks gassed! Griffin trying to control but Henson is working from the bottom. Henson is looking for a triangle but Griffin pushes his legs off easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Henson wants to sweep here but Griffin controlling him for the moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Henson is working hard here to advance position. Griffin trying to control the position from guard on top but Henson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Henson throws his legs up looking for a submission but Griffin uses it to pass to side control.
Griffin controls the position from side control. Henson looks to move to half guard but instead Griffin has passed into mount! Damn!
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Henson tries to improve his position but instead Griffin has taken his back! Griffin tries to get the hooks in deep but Henson pushed the leg off. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Griffin missing with punches from the back. Griffin is trying to stick to Henson's back but Henson is turning into Griffin. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Griffin's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Henson. Henson works a leg free and moves into half guard. Henson prevents Griffin from improving his position. Henson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Griffin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Henson. Henson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Hawk Henson will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Hawk Henson's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Henson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The ground and pound from Henson seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Griffin gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Henson is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Griffin has managed to free his arm - good work. Griffin is trying to stand up here but Henson is controlling him well. Griffin gets full guard. That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin wants to get back to his feet but Henson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Henson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Griffin counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Griffin. Griffin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Henson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Henson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Griffin!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Henson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Griffin is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Griffin and Henson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Henson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Griffin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Henson prevents Griffin from escaping the position. Henson throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Griffin tries to buck Henson off but Henson is having none of it. Griffin wants to control but Henson postures up. Griffin regains half guard, as Henson was trying to land strikes. Griffin is pressing down on Henson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Henson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Henson stops Griffin from standing up. Griffin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Henson preventing the sweep. Henson wants to pass the guard but Griffin is keeping the position. Henson wants to control from the top but Griffin keeps moving. Griffin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. A head kick misses from Griffin. Griffin misses with a takedown attempt and Henson counters with a nice double leg into guard. Griffin trying to keep a closed guard but Henson is proving a slippery customer.
Henson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Griffin looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Henson looking to pass the guard. Griffin wants to stand up but Henson is controlling him. Henson stopping the sweep attempt from Griffin.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Henson looking to sit in guard and control but Griffin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Henson wants to improve his position but instead Griffin has moved into half guard.

Griffin gets to his feet - Henson follows without any prompting. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Henson fails with the takedown and Griffin counters with a big head kick but Henson shrugs it off.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Forrest Griffin. I think Griffin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
