Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tur Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Smith!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fails to land the takedown.
Smith needs to keep his hands up - Cote had a free shot at his head there.
Smith looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Cote looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Smith showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cote.
Cote misses with an uppercut. Smith saw that one coming.
Cote connects with a crisp jab.
Cote misses with a takedown

and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Smith trying to control but Cote is working from the bottom.

Smith gets to his feet. Cote looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Cote tries to clinch up

and Smith counters with a shoot takedown. Cote fights it but they end up in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cote has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Smith off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Smith fails to pull guard.
Tur Cote has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Smith.
Cote wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Smith slows down the pace here.
Cote throws an elbow but it misses.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Smith has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cote is proving hard to escape from.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cote takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Cote tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Smith bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cote gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Smith trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smith is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

A combination from Cote does no damage.
Smith shoots in but Cote avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Smith takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like John Smith has been cut.
Cote throws a nice looking combination but Smith bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
No joy there for Cote, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smith wants to clinch up but Cote keeps it at a distance.
Cote throws a left and a right that both miss

and Smith counters by moving into the clinch.
Smith jumps guard but Cote stands there with Smith around his waist. Smith gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Smith fails to pull guard.
Tur Cote has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Smith.

Cote escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cote throws a leg kick that is checked

and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cote is on top in guard.
Smith is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cote drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cote jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Cote avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Cote feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cote gets to his feet. Smith looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Cote misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Smith.
Cote changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Smith fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Smith moves out of range as Cote throws a body kick.

Cote uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smith.

Cote closes the distance and clinches.

Smith manages to break the clinch.
Cote scores with a jab. Smith acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Cote throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Smith.
Smith tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Smith counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Smith.

Both fighters circling a little - Smith finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Cote throws a left and a right that both miss

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cote keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.
Cote will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Smith seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cote does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Cote lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Smith darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Cote wants to get back to full guard.

Cote tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.

Cote wants to control but Smith is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Tur Cote has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cote is refusing to be controlled, as Smith sits in half guard.

Smith decides to stand up.
Smith gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
John Smith has got the better of the ground game so far.
Well, if Smith is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Smith is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Cote reverses the position - he's now on top in Smith's guard.
Smith wants to sweep here but Cote controlling him for the moment.

Cote decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Cote shows good takedown defense.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Smith winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
