Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenichi Shirahama!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Larry David!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
David tries to land a body kick

so Shirahama counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
David manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Shirahama keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
David can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Shirahama is looking to escape.
David looking to control and managing it successfully.
David tries to control but Shirahama wriggling away.
Shirahama sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Shirahama tries to roll over but David keeps him under control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
David controlling the pace.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Larry David wasn't active enough on the ground.
Shirahama lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
David waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Shirahama.
Shirahama looks to score with a jab to the body but David is just out of range.
David throws a poor cross that misses
and Shirahama counters with a good low kick that David was not able to check.
Shirahama looks to land a body kick but David moved away.

David lets loose with a powerful body kick. Shirahama will feel that in the morning.
David takes a kick to the side of the head.

Shirahama throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. David was covering up waiting for the punch and Shirahama finishes the takedown easily into guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

David wants to sweep here but Shirahama controlling him for the moment.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if David can do anything to dispel that myth.
Shirahama throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as David works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

David is desperately trying to improve his position but Shirahama has a good base and remains in mount.

Shirahama connects with a couple of good shots from mount.


It looks like Larry David has been cut.
David wants to control but Shirahama is having none of it.
Shirahama has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Shirahama lands a big shot there that rocks David but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Shirahama scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish David?
Shirahama will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Shirahama lands a heavy shot. That's hurt David! Shirahama sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless David and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!
