Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Diego Nunes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Maestro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maestro has chosen Ripped To Shreds as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Diego Nunes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Maestro! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Lou da Vinci and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nunes pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Maestro shoots in looking for a takedown. Nunes tries to sprawl out of it but Maestro keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nunes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Maestro steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Nunes. That one must have hurt. Maestro swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Nunes counters with a good, hard body kick but Maestro shrugs it off. Maestro avoids the head kick by Nunes.
A punch combination from Nunes misses. Maestro is looking to clinch. A nice leg kick lands there from Nunes. Sloppy strikes from Maestro. Those never looked like landing. Maestro tries to clinch but Nunes moves out of range. Nunes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Maestro being controlled here, momentarily. This has been an exciting period of action! Maestro tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nunes showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diego Nunes has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Nunes throws a series of punches but Maestro avoids them all with ease. Maestro fails in his attempt to clinch. Nunes throws a sloppy head kick and Maestro moves out of range easily. Nunes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Nunes gets to his feet. Maestro looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Nunes throws a head kick that misses. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Nunes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nunes throws a lazy head kick and Maestro counters with a left to the body. Nunes circles away from the clinch attempt.

Maestro manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Nunes on his heels. He'll look to pass Nunes's guard now, I'm sure. Nunes is breathing heavily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nunes seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Maestro throws a big elbow that misses. Maestro is looking to work some ground and pound but Nunes has wrist control. Maestro being controlled here momentarily. Maestro stopping the sweep attempt from Nunes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Nunes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Maestro manages to get himself to full guard.
Maestro is looking to stand up but Nunes isn't so interested in that idea. Nunes controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Nunes gets to his feet. Maestro looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Nunes throws a head kick but Maestro moves out of range.

Maestro fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Nunes shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nunes is working for a submission of some sort.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nunes slows the pace down in half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Left hook, right uppercut from Nunes.
It looks like Paul Maestro has been cut. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Nunes - that will leave a mark!
That's one minute gone in the round. Maestro throws a wild body kick that Nunes sees coming a mile off. Nunes throws a front kick that sends Maestro stumbling back into the cage. Nunes looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Diego Nunes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Maestro fails to land the takedown. Diego Nunes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Maestro. Nunes goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. A head kick misses from Nunes. Nunes misses with a head kick.

Maestro pushes Nunes against the cage but Nunes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Nunes throws a sloppy head kick and Maestro counters with a nice double leg into guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Maestro looking to pass the guard. Nunes controlling Maestro's posture. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nunes is on top in guard.
Nunes won't allow Maestro to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nunes sitting in guard, not really doing much. Nunes stands up from Maestro's guard - Nunes perhaps looking for a knockout. Nunes throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Maestro lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Nunes darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Nunes frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nunes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Maestro keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Maestro is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Maestro closes the distance and clinches. Nunes drags the fight down to the ground.
Nunes has Maestro pulled in close to control his posture. Maestro trying to control the position from guard on top but Nunes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Maestro advances to half guard. Maestro is trying to control. Nunes wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Nunes preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Nunes is trying to stand back up but Maestro is controlling him

Diego Nunes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Paul Maestro. Maestro shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nunes napping and manages to drive through into side control! Nunes sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Maestro sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Nunes defending well though. Nunes keeps control of the position for the meantime. Nunes is trying to stand up here but Maestro is controlling him well. Nunes regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Maestro. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Nunes is on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nunes gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Maestro takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nunes throws a series of punches but Maestro avoids them all with ease. Nunes closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Maestro did well to prevent Nunes getting side control. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Nunes in particular looking to stall. Nunes has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We're going to have a standup here because Diego Nunes wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Maestro showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nunes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nunes shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nunes showed some decent athleticism there. Nunes tries to pass to full mount but Maestro defends it. Nunes sitting and controlling from the half guard. Nunes gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maestro darts in and clinches Nunes up against the cage. Maestro has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Nunes is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Nunes misses with a body punch.
Maestro has Nunes pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Nunes manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Nunes tries to break free but Maestro pushes him back against the cage. Maestro prevents Nunes from breaking the clinch. Nunes breaks the clinch.
Nunes tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Maestro cracks Nunes with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Maestro has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Diego Nunes is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nunes throws a head kick that misses. Paul Maestro has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Nunes shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Maestro's guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Diego Nunes showed his dominance in that final round. Well Nunes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
