Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nikita Olavski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Volg Zangief! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Roberts and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zangief throws a sloppy head kick and Olavski moves out of range easily. Zangief lands a big head kick that sends Olavski tumbling to the mat! Zangief takes a step backwards and waves Olavski back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Nikita Olavski has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Olavski throws the kick towards the body but Zangief avoids it. Olavski avoids a kick to the body.
Olavski shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Zangief but Zangief pushes him off and we're back to square one. Zangief throws a wild body kick that Olavski sees coming a mile off. No luck for Olavski with that takedown attempt. Zangief throws the kick towards the body but Olavski avoids it. Zangief pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Zangief stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Zangief wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nikita Olavski. That's going to take a lot out of him. Zangief has Olavski up against the cage in a clinch.
Zangief is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Olavski tries for a takedown. No joy.
Zangief lands a good knee to the midsection. Olavski won't want to take too many of those. Olavski is breathing heavily. Zangief landing knees to the head.

Zangief working Olavski over with knees to the body. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Olavski. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zangief utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Zangief's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Zangief pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Zangief lands a big head kick that sends Olavski tumbling to the mat! Zangief takes a step backwards and waves Olavski back to his feet - he wants the finish! Olavski tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Zangief was well out of range. Poor timing from Olavski. Olavski takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Olavski keeps the fight on the outside. Zangief is looking to clinch. Zangief tries to clinch but Olavski is having none of it. Zangief misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Zangief takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Zangief tries to clinch up. Olavski shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Zangief as he avoids it easily. Zangief has taken the fight to the clinch.
Zangief will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Olavski up against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Olavski wants a takedown but no success here.
Zangief stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Zangief obliges. Zangief pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Olavski keeps the fight on the outside. No joy there for Olavski, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Zangief misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Zangief gets in close and instigates a clinch. Zangief unloads a knee to the mid-section. Zangief is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Olavski takes a knee to the side of the body. Knees to the body from Zangief.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Zangief takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zangief lands a knee to the head.
Zangief lands a nice knee to the body. Zangief connects with a nasty looking knee right to Olavski's face.
Zangief drops Olavski with a big knee straight up the middle! Olavski is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!
Olavski is rocked! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Zangief moves into the clinch successfully.
Oh Olavski is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Zangief lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Zangief has Olavski pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Olavski is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Zangief - that's hurt Olavski badly! Oh, another knee lands and Olavski is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Olavski doesn't seem to be complaining.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Volg Zangief!
