Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Talib Kweli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Douglas Quaid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kweli kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is 2Pac - Hit em up . Quaid has chosen Metallica - For Whom the Bell Tolls as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Talib Kweli! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Douglas Quaid! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kweli lands a really nice looking cross but Quaid seems unphased.
Kweli throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Quaid cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Quaid moves away from the strike by Kweli. Kweli dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Quaid dodges the punch combination from Kweli.
Kweli keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kweli shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Quaid but Quaid pushes him off and we're back to square one. Quaid looks to score with a jab to the body but Kweli is just out of range. Quaid moves away from the strike by Kweli. Quaid closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kweli quickly recovers to half guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Quaid is looking to take a break and control but Kweli is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. This has been an exciting period of action!
That's one minute gone in the round. Kweli wants to get back to full guard. Kweli is concentrating on defense, preventing Quaid from advancing position. Quaid wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kweli keeps working. Quaid might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kweli kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Douglas Quaid hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Kweli shoots in looking for a takedown but Quaid manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kweli's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. No joy there for Kweli, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kweli throws a looping overhand right but Quaid ducks down to avoid it. Quaid tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kweli sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Quaid somewhat. Kweli misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Quaid throws an overhand right that lands on Kweli's shoulder, as Kweli tries to avoid the shot. Kweli throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Quaid counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Quaid just misses with a punch to the body.
Quaid avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Quaid defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kweli. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Talib Kweli. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kweli is trying hard to land a takedown here. Quaid sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Quaid digs a good body shot into Kweli's ribs. Kweli is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Quaid's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. A shot to the body from Kweli misses and Quaid counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Kweli shoots for a takedown but Quaid saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Quaid works the jab nicely. Kweli throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Quaid.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quaid will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Quaid stuffs the takedown. Kweli tries to bum rush Quaid with a series of wild strikes but Quaid uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Horrible takedown by Kweli or perhaps it was just good defense by Quaid which made him look bad. Quaid looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Kweli! Quaid is in the full mount, landing strikes. Quaid in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Quaid lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Kweli hang on? Quaid working away from the top, dropping strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kweli regains half guard. Quaid with the ground and pound but Kweli uses the opportunity to regain guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kweli utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Quaid distracts Kweli with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Quaid accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Quaid throws a big elbow that misses. Quaid's corner is telling him to maintain position. Quaid wants to control from the top but Kweli keeps moving. Quaid avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kweli had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Quaid defends it easily. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Kweli trying to keep a closed guard but Quaid is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Douglas Quaid dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Quaid shoots for a double leg takedown but Kweli sprawls well. He's pushed Quaid's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Quaid shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Kweli can't escape the position.
Kweli looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Kweli looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Kweli prevents Quaid from getting a body triangle. Quaid looking for the choke from the back. Kweli trying to control but not successfully. Quaid controlling well, preventing Kweli from escaping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kweli staying busy and making it hard for Quaid to control. Quaid looking for the RNC. Quaid is landing with strikes from the back. Quaid scores with strikes from the back.
Kweli wants to escape the position.
Well, with Quaid on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Kweli is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Quaid is punishing Kweli with some ground and pound. Quaid is not going to allow Kweli to sit and survive in this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here.
Kweli has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Quaid. Quaid is trying to stick to Kweli's back but Kweli is turning into Quaid. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Quaid's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kweli. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Quaid controls Kweli momentarily but Kweli frees himself. Kweli looking to sit in guard and control but Quaid gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Quaid wants to control from the top but Kweli keeps moving. Kweli working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Quaid doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Quaid manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quaid trying to control but Kweli is working from the bottom. Quaid preventing the sweep. Quaid pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kweli is keeping the position for now. Kweli lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Quaid! Kweli prevents Quaid from getting the reversal. Kweli lands with some strikes. Kweli tries to control but Quaid wriggling away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kweli dominating with strikes here. Kweli looking to control but Quaid is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Kweli landing punches. Kweli landing shots from mount. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kweli fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Kweli thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Kweli lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Quaid is rocked! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kweli postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Quaid in real trouble here! The ref calls for Quaid to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Talib Kweli!
