Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Steve Montenegro and John Kavanagh.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Payne napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Payne explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Payne tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Payne manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Payne has Smith up against the cage in a clinch.
Payne is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Smith is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Payne is defending well.
Oscar Payne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lionel Smith.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Payne.

Smith gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Payne regains guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith wants to work for an arm triangle but Payne is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Smith jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Payne manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Payne is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Smith has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Payne tries to improve position but can't.
Smith cracks Payne with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith is working Payne over with some ground and pound from side control.
Payne is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Smith wants to control but Payne is keeping him busy.
Smith grinds an elbow into Payne's temple.
Payne takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Smith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Payne knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Smith is putting a hurting on Payne here, landing some big shots from side control.
Payne takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Payne seems to have got his legs back now.
Smith creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Payne takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Smith scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Payne is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Smith can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
