Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Taz Lero!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Isamu Natsuki!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lero has his takedown stuffed
and Natsuki counters with a thumping low kick.

Lero feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Lero throws a big right hand that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Natsuki not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Lero is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Natsuki is on top in guard.
Lero avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Natsuki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Natsuki is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Lero is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Natsuki with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Natsuki's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Natsuki trying to control but Lero is working from the bottom.
Lero has momentary wrist control but Natsuki slips an elbow through the middle.
Natsuki missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Natsuki wants to control from the top but Lero keeps moving.
Lero avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Lero can't keep his opponent in guard - Natsuki advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Natsuki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lero keeps working.
Natsuki tries to pass to full mount but Lero defends it.
Lero wants to get back to his feet.
Natsuki is trying to control the action in half guard but Lero is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Lero actively working from the bottom here.
Natsuki seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Natsuki looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Natsuki moves into full mount! Lero won't be happy about that!
Lero tries to buck Natsuki off but he can't manage it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Natsuki punishing his opponent with strikes.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Natsuki wants to control the pace but Lero is squirming around nicely.
Natsuki loads up with a big shot that hurts Lero! He's pulled Natsuki in close but Natsuki has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Lero survive? More strikes from Natsuki and Lero is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Isamu Natsuki! Isamu Natsuki retains his light heavyweight title!
During a confident post fight interview, Isamu Natsuki thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
