The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
de Salsa closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Veechi is not content to let de Salsa control the position.
Veechi trying to hold on to de Salsa's head to control him but de Salsa postures up.
Veechi is holding on to half guard well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
de Salsa seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Veechi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are battling for position here. Veechi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Veechi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Veechi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Veechi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. de Salsa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. de Salsa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
de Salsa drops back looking for a leg! Veechi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Veechi manages to kick de Salsa off! de Salsa jumps back into Veechi's guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Veechi is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! de Salsa rolls with it to try and escape but Veechi cranks on the arm and de Salsa is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
