The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pugh is trying hard to land a takedown here. Born sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Pugh shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Pugh was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Born tries to reverse the position but Pugh maintains control. Born is trying to stand. Born tries to get back to half guard but can't. Born is working hard here to advance position. Born defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Pugh. Born is squirming around, avoiding Pugh's attempts to control the action.

Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Born! Born throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Born wants to control for a moment but Pugh uses the opportunity to move back to half guard. Born is trying to control. Pugh wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Pugh is looking for a sweep. Born is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pugh gets full guard. Born stays in close to Pugh's body and controls the position. Born wants to control from the top but Pugh keeps moving. Born pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pugh is keeping the position for now.
We're going to have a standup here because Kevin Born wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Born is looking to clinch but Pugh is avoiding it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pugh with a lazy takedown attempt and Born counters by moving into the clinch. Pugh tries to pull guard but Born won't allow it.
Born jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pugh walks away with a smile on his face. Born gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Pugh looks for a takedown but Born sprawls well. Kevin Born has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Pugh. Pugh is breathing heavily. Born wants to clinch but Pugh slips to the side and Pugh counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Born is controlling Pugh's position as best he can from this difficult position. Born is trying to control but can't.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Pugh not landing any meaningful shots this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Kevin Born will probably get the nod. That's time! Born's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Born stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Born wants it to stay on the feet. Born scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Born decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Pugh takes the fight into the clinch. Born working hard to break the clinch. Born jumps into guard, dragging Pugh to the mat.

Pugh looking to sit in guard and control but Born gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Born is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Pugh is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Pugh takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pugh working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Born. Born works over Pugh with some ground and pound from guard. Pugh has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Born is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Pugh. Pugh tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Born presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Kevin Born overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Born wants to finish this one by submission but Pugh is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Born. Pugh is in all sorts of trouble here.
Born wants to control the pace but Pugh is squirming around nicely. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Born cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
