Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Gomez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuu Nigeshi! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gomez scores with a takedown into Nigeshi's guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Gomez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nigeshi swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gomez postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nigeshi is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gomez, into his guard. Gomez is trying to keep Nigeshi in close.
Gomez is really struggling to control Nigeshi but he's trying to hold on to the position. Gomez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Nigeshi trying to control but Gomez is working from the bottom. Nigeshi is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Nigeshi content to stall in guard here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Nigeshi's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Nigeshi slips nicely into half guard. Nigeshi looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Nigeshi prevents Gomez from improving his position. Gomez avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Nigeshi. The fighters are battling for position here. Gomez manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Nigeshi landing some decent shots from guard. Gomez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Nigeshi trying to control the position from guard on top but Gomez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Nigeshi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Nigeshi's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Gomez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nigeshi defends well. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nigeshi won't allow Gomez to sweep him here. Gomez keeping moving, preventing Nigeshi from controlling successfully. Gomez throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Nigeshi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Nigeshi wants to pass the guard but Gomez is keeping the position. Gomez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jose Gomez. Gomez is looking to clinch but Nigeshi is avoiding it.
Gomez throws a right and a left that Nigeshi avoids nicely. Nigeshi shoots in looking for a takedown but Gomez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nigeshi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Gomez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gomez showed some decent athleticism there. Gomez thows a huge punch but Nigeshi dodges it nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nigeshi is looking for a sweep. Gomez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Nigeshi trying to control from the bottom.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nigeshi is looking for a sweep. Gomez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jose Gomez will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Nice jab there from Nigeshi. Nigeshi shoots for a takedown but Gomez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jose Gomez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Gomez works the jab nicely. Nigeshi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gomez paws at him with a jab and circles away. Nigeshi is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Gomez shoots in and gets a takedown into Nigeshi's guard. Nigeshi looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Gomez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nigeshi swivels though and keeps the full guard. Nigeshi trying to strike off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nigeshi is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Nigeshi manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Nigeshi cracks Gomez with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Gomez tries to hold on but Nigeshi postures up. Nigeshi punishing his opponent with strikes. Gomez tries to hold on but Nigeshi pushes him away. The referee warns Gomez that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nigeshi connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Gomez is rocked! Nigeshi is landing with some decent strikes but Gomez is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Oh Gomez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Nigeshi cracks Gomez with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chuu Nigeshi!
