Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Almeida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Bordin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Almeida kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Ja posso suportar!. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruno Almeida! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Bordin! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bordin tries to sprawl but Almeida drives through with a takedown into half guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Almeida has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Almeida goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Bordin turns into him and now he's in Almeida's guard.
Bordin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bordin gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Bordin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Bordin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Almeida sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bordin somewhat. Almeida shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bordin defends it nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bordin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Almeida looking for a takedown. Bordin has Almeida pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Almeida manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Almeida tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Almeida misses with a punch to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Almeida blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Almeida tightens his grip and picks Bordin up, before dumping him to the ground. Bordin manages to land in guard. Bordin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Bordin looking for a sweep. Not yet Bordin, not yet. Almeida tries to free his leg and advance position but Bordin is retaining full guard. Bordin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Bordin seems keen to control Almeida's posture. Almeida postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bordin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Almeida, into his guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Almeida looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Almeida is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Almeida looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Bordin has picked Almeida up and slammed him! Almeida can't keep hold of the triangle and Bordin manages to pass to side control! Almeida trying to remain calm as Bordin controls from the top position. Almeida is not content to let Bordin control the position. Bordin in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Almeida is being controlled here. Bordin looks up at the clock and then as Almeida takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bordin smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bordin decides to stand back up. Bordin steps back and let's Almeida get back to his feet. Almeida changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bordin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Almeida wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bordin keeps working. Bordin is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Bordin actively working from the bottom here. Bordin controlling the position for now. Almeida wants to take a breather but Bordin is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Mauricio Bordin will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Bordin gets a takedown into half guard. Almeida could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Bordin slows the pace down in half guard. Almeida has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Bordin escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Bordin! Bordin stands up and we're back to a striking position. Almeida shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bordin but Bordin pushes him off and we're back to square one. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Nice takedown defense from Almeida. No joy for Bordin on that attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bordin doesn't succeed with the takedown and Almeida moves into the clinch. Bordin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Almeida misses with a takedown so Bordin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Almeida had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bordin defends it easily. Bordin wants to control from the top but Almeida keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bordin controlling from the top position. Mauricio Bordin has got the better of the ground game so far. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Mauricio Bordin was stalling too much, according to the referee. Bordin moves into the clinch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Bordin jumps into guard, dragging Almeida to the mat.
Almeida wants to pass the guard but Bordin is keeping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Almeida is working hard here to advance position. Bordin is trying to control the position but Almeida postures up. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Mauricio Bordin has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Bordin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Bordin breaks the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Bordin goes for a takedown attempt but Almeida pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Bruno Almeida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mauricio Bordin. Bordin misses with a low kick. Almeida misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Bordin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Bordin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bordin raining down shots from the mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mauricio Bordin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Almeida's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!
Bordin moves into the clinch. Almeida stalls. Bordin pulls Almeida into guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bordin is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Bordin passes Almeida's left leg - he's now in half guard. Bordin passes to full mount! Bordin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Almeida tries to lock up and control but Bordin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Bordin trying to control but Almeida is having none of it. Bordin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Almeida kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Almeida is looking to improve his position but Bordin isn't that keen on the idea.

Bordin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Bordin shoots for a double leg takedown but Almeida sprawls well. He's pushed Bordin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Bruno Almeida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mauricio Bordin. Almeida stuffs the takedown. Almeida shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bordin is trying to defend but Almeida finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Bordin is doing well to control the position and prevent Almeida from advancing to side control. Almeida prevents Bordin from improving his position. Bordin trying to control from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Almeida not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Almeida is thwarting Bordin's attempts to control the position. Almeida is looking for a kimura here.
Almeida is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Bruno Almeida has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Almeida seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Mauricio Bordin is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Bordin works his way to full guard. Good work.
And that's the end of the fight! Mauricio Bordin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Bordin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
