PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bob Porter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Caron Little (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Caron Little told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bob Porter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Caron Little!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Sergei Dronov and Fedor Mirinova.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Porter.
Porter leaves Little with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Little shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Little trying to control from Porter's half guard. Porter has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Little trying to control the position from guard on top but Porter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Little avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Little wants to control from the top but Porter keeps moving.

Porter not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Little stands and steps away. Porter gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Porter takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Little tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Porter swivels and escapes.

Little shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Little showed some decent athleticism there.
Little is trying to control the action in half guard but Porter is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
It looks like Little is going to stand back up.

Porter holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Porter kicks off Little and gets to his feet.
Porter shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Little pinned against the cage. Little gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Little shoots for a takedown but Porter saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Bob Porter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Caron Little.
Little looks gassed!
Little tries to grapple but his opponent circles

Porter misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Little fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Porter has taken the fight to the clinch.
Little swings wildly with an uppercut but Porter uses good head movement to avoid it.
Little creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Porter's defenses.
Little throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Little throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Porter pulls Little into guard.
Little won't allow Porter to sweep him here.
Porter doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Porter had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Little defends it easily.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Little stands and steps away. Porter gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Porter shoots for a double leg takedown but Little sprawls well. He's pushed Porter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Porter fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Porter stuffs the takedown.
Little tries to clinch up but Porter circles away and keeps his distance.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Horrible takedown by Porter or perhaps it was just good defense by Little which made him look bad.
Little fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Caron Little dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Nice takedown defense from Little. No joy for Porter on that attempt.
Porter tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Little swivels and escapes.
Porter slaps away a takedown attempt from Little, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Little will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Porter tries to clinch up but Little circles away and keeps his distance.
Porter throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Little's waist but Little gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Porter off to one side.

Porter dives in and grabs Little's left leg, looking for a takedown. Little pushes down on Porter's head and hops out.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Porter shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Little as he jumps to the side.
Porter takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Little misses with a body shot.
Porter blocks a head kick by Little.
Little throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Porter shoots in for a takedown but Little shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Little throws a body punch but Porter moves out of range.
Porter shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Little sprawls well. Little wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Porter gets slowly back to his feet.

Porter gets tackled into the cage by Little. Little maintains the clinch.
Little lands an elbow inside.

Porter dodges an elbow strike from Little.
Little lands an elbow inside that Porter shrugs off.
Porter wants to break free but Little has control.
Little lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Porter missing with knees to the body.
Little blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
A frustrated look appears on Porter's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Little is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Porter to keep the fight standing.

Porter pulls guard.
Little must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Little forces his way into half guard.

Porter wants to get back to his feet.
Porter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Little is working away from the top position though.
Porter tries to roll over but Little keeps him under control.
Little trying to pass the guard but Porter defending well.
Little thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Porter's head.
Porter trying to hold on to Little's head to control him but Little postures up.

Little prevents Porter from standing back up.
Porter is not content to let Little control the position.
Little tries to pass the half guard into mount. Porter knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Little closes the distance and clinches up with Porter, looking for a takedown. Little pushes Porter against the cage but Porter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Porter tries to close the distance and clinch up but Little swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Caron Little will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Little comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

It looks like Bob Porter has been cut.
Porter is trying to push Little away but Little has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Little prevents Porter from breaking the clinch.
Porter wants to break free but Little has control.
Little lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Little creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Little lands an elbow just above Porter 's eye.

Little jumps guard and drags Porter to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Little is trying to keep Porter in close.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Porter avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Porter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Little looking to control.
Porter sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Little's guard.

Porter decides to stand and escape the position.
Porter closes the distance and clinches up with Little, looking for a takedown. Porter pushes Little against the cage but Little circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Porter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Little gets underhooks to prevent Porter's takedown attempt.
Little is looking to take this one to the mat.
Little has a couple of punches blocked by Porter.

Porter gets control of Little's arms and successfully pulls guard. Porter will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Little is fighting to break Porter's control of his arms but Porter is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Porter looking for subs off his back but Little has passed one foot through into half guard.

Porter is looking to control Little's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Porter avoid being mounted?
Little wants to get back to his feet.

Porter is staying active underneath Little, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
