The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mies connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Aldo's hands.
Mies listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Mies fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Aldo.
Miesten Mies seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mies keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mies misses with a head kick.
Mies lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Aldo takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Aldo tries to move into range but Mies moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Aldo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mies is fending him off so far but Aldo persists. Nope, Mies circles away and we're back to standing.
Mies throws a front kick that sends Aldo stumbling back into the cage.
Mies wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Aldo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mies's waist but Mies gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Aldo off to one side.

Mies lands a glancing blow to the side of Aldo's head.

Aldo takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Aldo shoots in looking for a takedown but Mies manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Aldo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Mies lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Aldo moves forwards but Mies connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Aldo shoots for a double leg takedown but Mies sprawls well. He's pushed Aldo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Aldo shoots in but Mies avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Mies ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Donk. Mies catches Aldo right on the button with a cross.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Aldo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Aldo walks into a stiff left hand from Mies.
Aldo dives in and grabs Mies's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mies pushes down on Aldo's head and hops out.
Mies jabs Aldo right on the nose. Aldo blinks but takes it well.
Aldo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mies sprawls well. Mies wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Aldo gets slowly back to his feet.
Mies has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

A jab from Mies finds it's way through Aldo's defenses.
Mies is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mies lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Aldo shoots in looking for a takedown but Mies manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Aldo's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Aldo looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Aldo takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Aldo shoots for a double leg takedown but Mies sprawls well. He's pushed Aldo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Mies, as that shot connected.

Mies cracks Aldo with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Mies moves into range and connects with a jab.

A jab from Mies finds it's way through Aldo's defenses.
Aldo shoots in for a takedown but Mies shows good takedown defense.
Aldo drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mies lands the left hand.
Aldo takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Mies looks to land a combination but Aldo avoids it well.
Aldo looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Aldo tries for a takedown but Mies sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mies connects with a single shot there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Aldo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Aldo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Mies defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Aldo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Aldo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mies circles away.

Aldo feints and as Mies raises his hands in defense, Aldo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Aldo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Aldo might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Aldo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Aldo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Aldo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Aldo is working to tighten is grip on Mies's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Mies has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Aldo is really squeezing tight and eventually Mies passes out! Aldo breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
