Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brad Cunningham! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jerry Seinfeld! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jorge Garcia and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cunningham throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Seinfeld pushes Cunningham up against the cage in a clinch. Cunningham is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Cunningham putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Seinfeld in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Cunningham controlling the action here for a moment.
Cunningham with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cunningham breaks the clinch.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Cunningham, right into the meat.
Seinfeld closes the distance and pushes Cunningham back into the cage. Cunningham scores a nice knee to the body.
Cunningham connects with a knee to the head.
It looks like Jerry Seinfeld has been cut. Seinfeld looks gassed! Cunningham lands an elbow that stopped Seinfeld in his tracks for a moment. Cunningham has hold of one of Seinfeld's legs. Seinfeld is fighting the takedown attempt but Cunningham gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Cunningham thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cunningham trying to control the position from guard on top but Seinfeld is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cunningham stands up and waves to Seinfeld to follow him. Cunningham lands with a nice combination. Seinfeld backs away looking to recover. Cunningham connects with a body shot. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cunningham lands a head kick!
The fight moves into the clinch position. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Cunningham has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Seinfeld avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Knees to the body from Cunningham.
Cunningham lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Cunningham connects with a knee to the head.
Cunningham manages to break the clinch.
Seinfeld walks into a straight right hand from Cunningham. Seinfeld gets caught flat footed, as Cunningham shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Cunningham is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Seinfeld really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cunningham. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cunningham is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Cunningham drops back looking for a leg! Seinfeld is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Seinfeld manages to kick Cunningham off! Cunningham jumps back into Seinfeld's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Seinfeld tries to land a sweep but no joy. Cunningham decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Seinfeld, up you get! Cunningham throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cunningham cracks Seinfeld with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Cunningham throws a front kick that sends Seinfeld stumbling back into the cage. Cunningham shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Seinfeld napping and manages to drive through into side control! Cunningham tries to move into full mount but can't pass Seinfeld's legs. Cunningham is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Seinfeld is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cunningham tries to advance to mount but can't. Seinfeld manages to work his way to half guard, despite Cunningham's best efforts. Cunningham is looking for a kimura but Seinfeld is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cunningham to get the leverage. Cunningham is looking for a kimura here.
Cunningham is trying to control the action in half guard but Seinfeld is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Seinfeld is looking to improve his position.
Seinfeld is trying to maintain the position but Cunningham is very close to passing his half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Cunningham has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Seinfeld defend it? Cunningham steps over the head and cranks it - Seinfeld is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Cunningham!
