Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Stem Cell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Omar Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stem Cell has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stem Cell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Omar Mendes! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Mendes checks a leg kick. Mendes lands with a hook. Cell tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Mendes misses with a wild combination.
A leg kick checked by Mendes. Mendes swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cell lands a high kick!
Cell misses with a low kick.
Mendes throws a series of punches but Cell moves out of range. Cell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Mendes moves out of range of the body kick. Cell shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Cell throwing strikes from guard but Mendes blocks nicely. Cell is looking to work some ground and pound but Mendes has wrist control. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendes pulls Cell in close to prevent any damage. Mendes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cell advances position into side control! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mendes can do anything to dispel that myth. Cell thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Cell looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Mendes is avoiding damage well.
Mendes is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Mendes wants to control but Cell postures up. Cell goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Mendes rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Cell's guard! Nice work there by Mendes! Cell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mendes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cell has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mendes has managed to get both his arms back between Cell's legs - danger averted. Cell looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Mendes has picked Cell up and slammed him! Cell can't keep hold of the triangle and Mendes manages to pass to side control! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cell is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Cell manages to work his way to half guard, despite Mendes's best efforts. Cell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cell works his way to full guard. Good work. Cell working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mendes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mendes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Mendes wants to get up but he can't break Cell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Cell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mendes defends well. Cell is trying to keep Mendes in close.
Cell bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mendes's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendes is pulling down on Cell's head. It's preventing any offense from Cell, at least for the moment. Cell is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Mendes keeping moving, preventing Cell from controlling successfully. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mendes preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cell pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mendes is keeping the position for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Stem Cell dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Mendes misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cell showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mendes.
Mendes misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Cell throws a wild body kick that Mendes sees coming a mile off. Cell tries to close the distance and clinch but Mendes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Mendes takes a swing at Cell's ribcage but misses. Cell showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mendes.
Stem Cell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A combination from Mendes does no damage. Cell tries a low kick but Mendes avoids it. Stem Cell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cell looks to land a body kick but Mendes moved away. Cell is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mendes's half guard. Cell working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Mendes's thigh. Mendes counters though and makes it back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cell throwing strikes but missing. Cell throwing strikes from guard but Mendes blocks nicely. Cell missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Cell trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Mendes wants to sweep but no luck. Cell forces his way into half guard. Cell thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cell is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Cell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Mendes is trying to control but can't.
Cell landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Cell trying to pass the guard but Mendes defending well. Cell passes to full mount! Mendes taking shots to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cell unloads with some shots from mount but Mendes bucks and avoids them well.
Cell trying to control but Mendes is having none of it. Cell scoring with strikes but Mendes is staying in there.
Mendes is rocked! Mendes is looking to get to half guard. Cell lands a big elbow. Mendes is still in real trouble! Can Cell finish him? Cell landing shots from mount. Cell with a couple of short strikes. Cell wants to control but instead Mendes manages to regain half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cell working Mendes over with strikes. Cell in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Mendes tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Cell!
