Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ben Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steel has chosen Saliva - Ladies and Gentlemen as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Ben Jackson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Steel!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson moves out of range of the body kick.
Jackson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jackson misses with a jab to the body
letting Steel counter with a right hand.
Jackson looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
A low kick from Steel is predictable there
and Jackson counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Jackson connects with a jab.
Jackson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Jackson throws a hook to the side of Steel's head but Steel sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Steel tries to bum rush Jackson with a series of wild strikes but Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Steel wants to slow Jackson down by chopping away at his legs.
Some wild striking there from Steel.
Jackson misses with a body shot
and Jackson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Steel throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Jackson leaves Steel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A telegraphed right hand from Steel misses the target.
Steel takes one to the side of the head.

Jackson is looking to land body kicks.
Steel looks for the body kick but Jackson saw that one coming.
Steel throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jackson scores with a crisp jab that stopped Steel in his tracks.
Ben Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Steel throws a lazy right hand but Jackson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Jackson lands with a straight right. Steel didn't see that one coming.
Steel lands a lovely overhand right.
Steel cracks the inside of Jackson's front leg.
A swing and a miss from Steel.
Jackson throws a chopping leg kick but Steel manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Steel tries to land a leg kick but Jackson saw it coming and moves away.
Steel keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jackson lands with a straight right. Steel didn't see that one coming.
Jackson throws the left hand but Steel avoids the punch easily.

Steel lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jackson fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Steel has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jackson is looking to land body kicks.
Steel takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Jackson tries to clinch but Steel moves out of range.
Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Steel moves away.
Steel just misses with a punch to the body.
Steel swings away with a body shot that misses
and Jackson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Steel attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Jackson pivots, looking for a leg kick but Steel is out of range and Jackson settles back down.
Steel keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Jackson.
Steel uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jackson.
Steel scores with a kick to the body.
Jackson throws a poor cross that misses
and Steel counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Jackson scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Steel throws a leg kick
and Jackson counters with a stiff right hand.
Jackson swings for the body but Steel moves out of range.
Steel throws a front kick that sends Jackson stumbling back into the cage.
Steel misses with a straight left.
Jackson looks to score with a jab to the body but Steel is just out of range.
Steel tries to work over Jackson's front leg with a kick but Jackson checks it.
Steel lands an overhand right.
Jackson throws a leg kick
and Steel counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Steel drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Steel misses with a wild body shot.
Steel moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Nice straight punches there by Steel. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Steel.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Steel thuds a left hand into Jackson's body.

Steel throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jackson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Steel manages to avoid it.
Jackson drops his hands momentarily and Steel takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Jackson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Steel connects with a body shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jackson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jackson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Jackson swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Steel.
Jackson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Steel looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Good leg kick by Jackson there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Steel scores with a crisp jab that stopped Jackson in his tracks.
Steel looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Steel connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Max Steel will probably get the nod.

Steel moves away from the strike by Jackson.
Nice uppercut there from Steel.
Steel needs to keep his hands up - Jackson had a free shot at his head there.
Steel dips to his left and cracks Jackson with an uppercut!
Jackson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Steel swings for the body but Jackson moves out of range.
Jackson checks the leg kick.
Steel scores with a hook.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jackson.
Jackson blocks a jab.
A jab from Jackson finds it's way through Steel's defenses.
Steel cracks Jackson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Steel throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Steel scores with a shot to the body.
Steel throws a hook but Jackson avoids it easily.

Jackson throws a big shot that misses.
Steel walks into a stiff left hand from Jackson.
Steel takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Jackson throws out a loose jab but Steel uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jackson throws a jab when Steel was well out of range.
A head kick misses from Jackson.
Steel misses with a straight left.
A combination from Steel does no damage.
Jackson throws a shot from downtown. Steel moves away and avoids it.
Jackson avoids the body shot from Steel.
Max Steel seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Steel blocks a jab.
Jackson tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Steel shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Steel showed some decent athleticism there.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Jackson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Steel.

Steel thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet.

Jackson is defending against the submission attempts here by Steel.

Steel throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Jackson to regain full guard.
Steel makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Steel throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Steel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Steel is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jackson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jackson has escaped and now he's on top!

Steel isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Jackson stacks Steel on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Jackson!

Jackson happy to just control the position for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Steel is trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Max Steel will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Steel throws a looping overhand right but Jackson ducks down to avoid it.

Steel engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Steel throws a strike but Jackson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Steel wants to sweep here but Jackson controlling him for the moment.

Steel is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Jackson trying to control the position from guard on top but Steel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Steel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Steel pushes a forearm under Jackson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Jackson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Max Steel!
Max Steel is the new middleweight champion!
After winning the bout, Max Steel thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
